Hello, I previously had two dogs, a scottish terrier and a cairn terrier - both very spoiled. Now I have two different terriers, a Jack Russell X Red Heeler and a pedigree Jack Russell. I love animals, especially terriers (scotties, cairns, westies, Jack R's, smaller ones) and wild animals. I live in an outer suburb of Adelaide, South Australia, in the foothills, overlooking the sea. I was born in the country and lived in the country for many years, so would have to say I am still a country girl at heart. My daughter, her husband and son live in the country near the beach, 2 hours' drive away. My son and other daughter live interstate with their families.. I am a retired nurse.
I play the piano and like many types of music, from classical to the classics, rock and easy-listening. I prefer songs of a few decades ago where I can easily understand all the words, rather than a lot of the songs of today. I also like the violin, bass and cello. I like many singers, too many to mention all of them and groups, but Linda Ronstadt is probably my favourite female singer in the USA, also Patsy Cline, Connie Francis, men include Dean Martin and Willie Nelson, through to Placido Domingo, John Denver, Neil Diamond. A few of my favourite groups/bands are Fleetwood Mac, The Hollies and The Shadows. Numerous Australian singers/groups include Normie Rowe, The Twilights, Masters Apprentices, many more, especially from the 1960's era.
Books I prefer to read are usually set in the 1930s - 1960s, nurses and nursing stories, or the Women's land army during WWII, British settings, mysteries, humorous, or autobiographies. I like books written by Meg Henderson, Christine Marion Fraser, Lillian Beckwith and Jennifer Chiaverini, who has written many novels with a quilting theme and American Civil War history. Favourite Australian authors are Belinda Alexandra and Colin Thiele.
Movies I enjoy are usually comedies, mysteries or the golden oldies. Also movies about animals. Among my favourite actors are Mark Harmon, Gregory Peck, Clark Gable, Humphrey Bogart, Dean Martin and George Clooney. I also like Audrey Hepburn, Lucille Ball, Grace Kelly and Marilyn Monroe.
TV comedies, especially British shows would be my favourites, particularly the older shows, besides mysteries, thrillers and documentaries about animals, countries, people and medical. I also like NCIS, especially Gibbs and Ziva. I like police shows and Lifestyle programs, particularly about beautiful old homes and mansions restorations, renovations and DIYs.
I have enjoyed patchwork and quilting, but have not have much opportunity to do that lately. My favourite quilting tutor is Jinny Beyer. I love her fabrics, followed by Jennifer Chiaverini, Alex Anderson and Kaffe Fassett. I also love Batik fabrics. I did all the usual - sewing, knitting, crochet and macrame in the past. I like gardening and watching the native birds in our garden. We have some permanent residents in the bushes in the front garden! I also grow some vegetables and have 17 fruit trees. I have native shrubs and flowers in my garden. Also succulents, which I love and have a big shadehouse at the back of my house, which I can see from the kitchen window. I like watching the birds flying in there and also watch them in their bird bath in the garden.
I love sending and receiving postcards around the world. I believe we learn many things from various postcards. I would love to travel to numerous countries, but as I am unable to at present, seeing these countries through postcards is also enjoyable. I am in Postcrossing, where my user name is "JennyH2dogs".
I ask please that you do NOT send me any religious postcards, any religious buildings, images, idols, birthday or seasonal ones such as Christmas, easter, Halloween, Valentine, or any with nude pictures or erotica. I also do not wish to receive postcards with angels or witches. I am not a fan of older vintage postcards, especially the small ones. You may like to send them to people who really appreciate them. I do not collect nor particularly like the postcards which need to be coloured in. Please DO NOT send FREE AD postcards. I have far too many, most of which have been sent in swaps. Also please do not send me any items that are scented or fragranced, due to reactions I have from them because of a medical condition. Thank you so much.
I do like a wide variety of postcards. I love postcards of VIOLINS, cellos, bass, violas, harps, or anything music-related, grand pianos, PIANOS and composers, sheet music, statues or pictures of composers, but find it is impossible to get any in Australia,
RECIPE and FOOD postcards,
old-fashioned treadle type (i.e. Singer) sewing machines), old typewriters,
I prefer country scenes, rather than city scenes, but do like shop window scenes, courtyards or "not busy" scenes in the city,
street scenes, including houses in lanes, courtyards, gardens and parks, country streets,
people eating at outdoor cafes, or walking in the streets ,
scenes of villages,
national cuisine,
food on the table,
nursing, medical, health-related,
I like old buildings, especially with beautiful architecture,
scenes with water, bridges, snow, mills and streams,
I would really love some postcards of Yosemite Park, Smokey Mountains, especially Montana scenes, (countryside and Helena), most national parks, Lake Jenny in National Park, Wyoming, also scenes of Canada - particularly British Columbia, Alberta and the eastern states
windmills, especially old wooden windmills and watermills,
Animals, particularly wildlife, SLOTHS,
DOGS, especially Scottish Terriers, Cairn Terriers, West Highland Terriers, Dandy Dinmont Terriers, Jack Russell Terriers,
also like birds,
succulent plants and gardens (either flowers, vegetables or trees),
mailboxes, especially unusual or quirky mailboxes
the Muppets,
humorous postcards,
patchwork or quilting postcards, which are very hard to find if not impossible in Australia,
Amish postcards,
Gregory Peck, Dean Martin, Clark Gable, George Clooney, Lucille Ball, Grace Kelly, Audrey Hepburn, Marilyn Monroe, NCIS actors (especially Gibbs and Zeva)and the late Princess Diana.
Art postcards, especially Monet, Renoir, Van Gogh, Norman Rockwell, Tarrant, Thomas Kinkaid, as well as others.
Please Do NOT send colouring in postcards, as I do not like them. Otherwise I am happy to receive all that you send me and thank you in advance. :)
I am happy to participate in private swaps. If you wish to swaps postcards with me, please contact me and I will return your message. If you are sending only one postcard, I like it naked (no envelope), but if the swap is for more than one postcard, I like it sent in an envelope, unwritten (left blank), with a separate message, thank you. International swaps, I prefer more than one postcard, in an envelope, thank you.
SWAPS NOT RECEIVED:
Flaked on by "jessicaw540". Let down badly, very disappointed. Postage from Australia to the USA for the swap was quite expensive, without the cost of the swap items.

I love the heat but canโt blame you for staying in. Not much you can do in such high heat! Here itโs -11C now. Brrr! Supposed to dip down to -19C on Sunday. Awful!! Stay cool!!!
Hi Jenny!! Hope you're doing well. Just wanted to say "hi"!! : )
Thank you for participating in my very first swap!
Sandy :o)
Hi Jenny ~ I love the "Waltzing Matilda" postcard you sent! My new thing this term is to take very special postcards and put them up in my classroom and this is where this one is going! Although I teach college level students, they are curious about the postcards and ask where I got them, etc. You are officially on my Wall of Fame! xx Michele
THANX for checkin in your LLL GROUP!
Blessings, cc
The 3 half-grown raccoons that visit my yard every night are adorable too! ;o)
I got your swap so fast!!!! The postmark was just on Monday!!
Hi Jennifer! Firstly, apologies for the nearly-3-month delay in responding to your lovely msg. Secondly, yes, "swab-bottom" was fully intentional! Although I don't remember how it came to me, I do recall laughing as I wrote it because so many swappers (swabbers!) here take themselves sooo seriously. I agree that the Aussie SOH is very different to Americans' and even to the Brits' at times. There's a lot more subtlety beneath the obtuseness than some of them know, my (American) husband included. ;) Anyway, thanks for msging me. I love meeting interesting Aussies on s-bot! :)
