Hi. I'm Sigrid, retired, living with my husband in northern Michigan. I have two grown daughters, and was able to home school the youngest until Graduation.
My husband and I enjoy volunteer work through our local church, and at a Hospitality House that cooks and serves home made meals to those who are in stressful situations. We also volunteer in the nursery on Saturday nights at church. I love holding the babies and praying over them and all the children in there. We don't have grandchildren and my husband has never had children so it's a blessing for him to interact with youngsters. He is growing through serving them and it's a wonderful sight to see.
In my off-time I enjoy making beeswax candles (from our bees), however I do not like bee or honey related things sent to me.
I really enjoy swapping on Swap-bot. Some swappers are so talented and create unique items that go up on my "Inspiration Wall" in my craft room. It brings me so much joy to look at all your inspiring art, letters, post cards, etc... -- well, it just warms my heart, and I appreciate that I get to look at your beautiful things whenever I'm crafting. Thank you!
My hobby is making things in vintage FRENCH Shabby Chic. It's quite different from the American idea of what shabby chic is. It's much more detailed with French art and history, and feminine with flowing fabrics, laces, delicate flowers, and when you see it, you just go ahhh. It's very lovely, delicate and unique and soothes the soul. My favorite things to make are personal journals but also Snippet Strips, Tags, Cards, and folders. I like French Ephemera, Sari Silk Ribbon, antique fabric and laces, beaded lace, handmade lace, tea stained papers, fussy cut flowers, old die cuts, and feminine colors, usually pastels.
Sometimes "life" happens and circumstances out of our control. So, if there's ever a problem please let me know, and I will do the same for you.
I do my best to rate the day your item arrives. You deserve to know that I received your item, time and effort, your gift/craft. I hope you do the same for me, and everyone.
It's a common mistake for people to think that my name is Penny Treasures based on my email address. I get lots of mail and messages addressing me as Penny LOL. It's okay and I'm not offended, just thought I'd share how I acquired the handle and hopefully you will see why.
25 years ago, my late husband and I, (I remarried later), used to Metal Detect every weekend and on holiday. Oh, the amazing things he would find with his detector on land and in the waters! I would find the junk or the occasional costume jewelry, but always pennies, always.
One day, I became discouraged while we were out. I started to grumble under my breath while thinking "what's the use"? Then I heard an internal voice which I believed to be the Holy Spirit saying "Look where you are! Look around you." So I did, and realized the beauty of the forest all around me. The sound of birds, squirels running amuck, the fresh air and sunshine, and the absolute quiet and beauty of everything around me.
My heart changed and I decided that the pennies were worth finding, and that the real treasure was in the journey, being with my love, and not so much the finding. I became very content and at peace ever after that. I changed my email to PennyTreasures to remind myself of that day.
Well, I hope you found it interesting :)
