Based on my experience with sending snail mails and postcards, I've found that Malaysia's postal service is not very reliable. It is also very expensive! (average cost is about the price of 1 large meal of Big Mac). I will only join swaps when I know I can deliver (both on content and cost) and I will send out within 1-3 days of being assigned partners. If I ever have to go beyond that, I will message you (even if the deadline is still far away) because I know it will take a long time through our postal system.
For reference, the average mail/postcard to USA would take 3-6 weeks, EU 2-5 weeks, Oceania 2-3 weeks and Asia 1-2 weeks. Will update this with new information soon.
17 Aug 2024: I recently found out that the mails & postcards will be postmarked with dates that are not in line with the dates I posted them. This is because I send them from Kuala Kangsar, and they don't postmark it here. They will be postmarked in Ipoh, (a different town) so there will be a few days' difference. Just know that the day I click sent is the actual day I drop them at the post office here.
I am fairly new to swap-bot. I was introduced to this site by my new penpal who is an avid swapper. I'm not as artsy as most of the people on here and I have no idea what most of the jargons mean (what the hell is a homer anyway?), so I tend to stick to swaps that I know I can deliver. If you're reading past this it probably means that you're sending me something - if that's the case, let me make it easier for you.
Here's a list of themes/things that I like:
florals
gold
stickers!!!!!
washi tapes
artsy/photography postcards
cool notecards
tea & coffee
long letters/personal messages
pictures! polaroids, film rolls, would especially love it if it's more personal (a picture of your pet, for instance)
stars & space
air mail themed items
pink
fruit themed items, especially the punny ones
Rosie's Studio stickers & die cuts
travel themed items
a cool souvenir from your travels/area, whatever it may be
game of thrones / house of the dragon related items
surprises!!!
I wouldn't say that I dislike these themes but I'd prefer not to receive them:
18+/NSFW content
vintage
religion
halloween
christmas/religious holidays
Hard pass: - food items containing alcohol - food items containing pork, lard, porcine gelatine and anything derived from pigs, basically.
It goes without saying that I would appreciate any crafts you make or send my way, but if it's something from my list of likes then I would absolutely cherish it!
If you're keen on getting to know me or be penpals, scroll down to keep on reading. Cheers!
Hi! I’m Edora, broadcasting live from the nature-filled wonderland of Ipoh, Perak. I would describe myself as a coy gal with a queer hindsight. Mostly classy and a whole lot of sassy.
I am a mom of three adorable troublemakers. My days are a delightful (and sometimes chaotic) blend of working from home while chasing after my one-year-old and caring for my mother who is battling stage 4 breast cancer. My husbank is my rock, providing the comfort in my whirlwind life.
Once a week, I escape the chaos by volunteering as a teacher at a local nonprofit school. It’s my little sanctuary, and I’ve found such joy in imparting knowledge and shaping young minds.
Global Politics Enthusiast: I thrive on discussions and debates about international affairs. I studied International Communications in university.
Language Lover: I am a native speaker of Malay and English. I picked up French while in uni but it has gotten rusty as je ne pratique pas depuis. Currently learning Arabic to better connect with my faith.
From Party to Piety: Once a life-of-the-party girl, I'm now on a spiritual journey, reconnecting with my faith and embracing a more meaningful path. Swapping dance floors for quiet reflection, I'm rediscovering the beauty of Islam.
Culinary Connoisseur: I’m a foodie with a flair for culinary magic! My cooking and baking prowess transforms ordinary ingredients into mouthwatering masterpieces, if I do say so myself. From savory Sambal Udang Petai to sweet Pavlovas, I cook with love and serve with a smile :)
Beach Bum: I’m a beach lover at heart—sunsets, turquoise waters, and the soft sand underfoot are my ultimate escapes. Oddly enough, I do have a deep irritational fear of the ocean. Something about the vast emptiness and the depth of the abyss. shivers
Culture Explorer: I’m a passionate traveler who thrives on experiencing new things and immersing myself in diverse cultures and traditions. I have been to several countries, and have visited all the states in Malaysia. I believe that every journey is an opportunity to witness unique ways of life and savor fresh perspectives, making each adventure a cherished discovery.
Crafty Creature: I’m a journaling junkie who finds herself constantly collecting random bits and bobs of memorabilia. For me, it’s a fantastic way to channel my creativity. Each item is like a tiny chapter in my personal story, and journaling about them is my way of writing that story in vibrant colours. Another fun fact about me is that I love the charm of snail mail and postcards. I am on globalpenfriends and postcrossing. I recently crafted my first zine and can’t wait to fill more pages and share it here. I also make my own stickers! I buy a lot of them too, and am always looking for opportunities to utilise them – so I can have space for new ones ;)
Game of Thrones, House of The Dragon, SKAM (Norwegian), Grey’s Anatomy, Suits, Lost, House, Hannibal, Shameless (American), The Rookie, American Horror Story, The 100.
I think there are many more that I enjoy but these are the ones that I can think of for now.
