Hey friends! My name is Lacey and I'm a visual designer living in Illinois, USA. I grew up in Michigan and moved to Chicago for my career, where I now work as a visual designer on the marketing team for a tech start-up. When I'm not working, I like to craft, make art, and watch Netflix.
I use she/her pronouns, and I'm super gay and super liberal and a spoonie. Intersectional feminism is very important to me. I like to learn new things, meet new people, destroy the patriarchy, and expand my horizons. If you needed to categorize me as a D&D character, I would be a chaotic good paladin.
At the moment, I live in an apartment with two roommates and two dogs. One of the dogs is mine. His name is Bentley, he's the best dog to have ever set foot on the planet, and he comes with me everywhere in a vest because he keeps me alive. He says hello.
I'm on the lookout for consistent pen pals, so feel free to ask if you're interested!
About Ratings: I don't flake on swaps. I'm new to this site, but I have been swapping with friends for a good while now. Please message me before you rate me if you do not receive a swap in a timely manner! I'm more than happy to send it again.
I'll probably have tried my hand at all of them before I die, because I like to make things and I like to learn how to do new things. The crafts/art that I currently enjoy the most are:
watercolor - digital illustration - sketching - bullet journaling - planning - ANY paper related things
My taste in books has a wide range, but I tend to gravitate toward the fantasy section - particularly the young adult and new adult part of it. I occasionally read in the science-fiction genre, and I love a good self-help book. Anything art or crafting related is a solid bet too.
Current favorites of all time:
The Raven Cycle - The Chronicles of Narnia - Harry Potter - The Infernal Devices - The Red Tent - The Song of Achilles - Captive Prince
I don't watch as much television as I used to, but I do occasionally get hooked on a certain TV series and binge the whole thing on a weekend. Or I have shows that I come back to because they're comforting or inspiring.
The current shows I will drop everything for:
Buffy the Vampire Slayer - Brooklyn 99 - Bob's Burgers - Hannibal - The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina - Riverdale - Call the Midwife - American Horror Story - Parks & Rec - The X-Files
I also spend too many hours on YouTube.
I don't have very many of these, honestly. But here are the few and the proud:
Moulin Rouge - Lord of the Rings trilogy - Coco (my god, this movie) - Moana (again, my god, this movie) - V for Vendetta - Remember the Titans
I always love a good note or letter. Don't feel pressured to include it, but this is one of the most delightful parts of a swap for me. I love to know about you or where my swaps are coming from.
Postcards! Blank or written or decorated. I love them all.
Mail art! Handmade things are lovely.
Bits and bobs that can be used in other paper-craft related projects are also fun. (For example, die-cuts, project life cards, interesting papers, stickers, ephemera, etc.) I tend to repurpose things from previous swaps too, since I like to recycle paper.
Washi tape samples are something I'm obsessed with. I can never have enough washi tape.
Pages from books or magazines that I can use in future projects. I love illustrated things in particular.
Tea. I mostly stick with black, green, and white teas. I love a good herbal as well. Yum. I generally don't care for Pu’erh or Rooibos teas. If I receive them, I will probably gift them to someone else.
Hot cocoa. Any kind. Anywhere. You can find me with hot cocoa.
Anything galaxy/sky themed. I love stars, moons, planets, auroras, clouds, etc. Preferably nothing astrology-related though.
Floral and nature-themed goodies are always welcome as well. I love mountains and I love the ocean. Succulents are lovely, and I'm in love with lavender. Anything herb-themed is cool too. Botanical-themed things are very welcome.
For colors, I love pastels and bright colors. I also like really dark greys and dark blues. For the most part, I like cooler colors. Dark browns or reds are generally not in my aesthetic. (But you can definitely sneak some pink in there, if you want.)
Uplifting quotes. I don't mind if they're spiritually-minded, but I'd prefer to not receive Biblical verses or anything that's too specific to any one religion.
Recipes or kitchen-themed items! I'm gluten-free, but most recipes I can adjust so that I can still eat them. If you have a killer dish that your family eats all the time, please feel free to share it.
