As much as I hate to do this, I am going to have to take a break. Not sure when I can come back, but I WILL RETURN!
You name it I have probably tried and and loved it in regards to crafts. Currently I am involved in cardmaking, rubberstamping, art journaling, polymer clay, book making, knitting, crocheting, and journaling.
My two top favorites right now are mixed media and polymer clay. I love making pages of art that I get to just sit and create. I add paint, stamping, texture, doodles, words, scraps of paper and more. Sometimes I even make books of these things and go with a theme. I have filled an art journal and am working on several more. Old books make great art journals, just add gesso and you have a blank canvas with a little texture showing through.
My clay is a little different. It satisfies something different in me. I roll, and smooth and try to make things that are pretty and basically useless. But, I love doing it and eventually find homes for the stuff.
I do need to mention cardmaking. Every week I make a few cards to send and every Christmas I make 100+ cards to send out. I love making cards, but just can't do it all the time because of the mess involved. For me cardmaking takes a full day and then I might end up with just a few cards.
If I find something on YouTube that intrigues me, I have to try it. Of course, I have to put my own spin on it, but still I gotta try it. Sometimes it comes out, sometimes it is a lot harder than those people make it look.
I love cats and currently have a kitten who learned how to rule the roost in one day. She is a tabby who is small for her size but has a big personality. She has a large hole to fill as we lost our two sweeties this past Spring within two months. Edited to add: In the year and half since I wrote this, she has perfected wrapping us around her paws and has enlivened many an day for us.
My favorite colors are teal and green. My craft room AKA playroom is painted teal. I have a huge sewing machine that I break out once in a while after years of quilting, At one time I was a quilt/embroidery teacher at the local quilt shop. But before that I was a Home Ec teacher.
Sitting down at my craft table with all my tools and supplies around me is the happiest place I can imagine. I have so many supplies that I think I will never run out. PLUS I have oodles of junk/stuff that can be used coming into the house all the time. Hubby has learned not to throw anything away without asking me first.
Because I am retired I get to play in my craft room several days a week. There is always some project going one, something drying and waiting for the next step or an idea that has gathered momentum and needing implementation.
My favorite activities involve my crafts and family. I don't exercise or do any sports. Television is just something to listen to while crocheting or doing other handwork. Movies take too long and I get antsy. I forget to listen to music though when I do I listen to the spa type music which has no names that mean anything. I will sing hymns from the past when driving long distances in the car. I love those old gospel songs.
Some of my work can be found on my blog at scrappycats.com/blog. It goes back many years through my digital scrapbooking phase, quilting phase and more.
I just noticed that I have a join date of 2013. That might make some nervous about trusting a person who has been a member for so long and not joined any swaps. The truth of the matter, I don't remember joining way back then.It was just this past week that I went looking for a place to find swaps and rediscovered this site. It is my hope that I can become a full member this time and find swaps to participate in. Tio many swaps lately are for PostCards and I don't collect those..
Mama taught me to never be rude about gifts. But, I just rather not have some things - like
baby stuff
wedding stuff
Anime
Disney Cutesy stuff just turns me off, so please try to keep it for adults. I have no children at home to share with.
I prefer that you do not send religious or spiritual items for swaps. My faith is personal and while I respect that you might wish to reach out and witness to me, please don't use swaps with me to do so.
Also, I am desperately trying to get all these little pieces of paper organized but it is just not happening. Currently, I have three boxes full. If you are sending me gifts with the swap, please no scraps or bits and pieces. How about making me something with those scraps and bits instead.
I do not collect post cards and when making ATC's prefer to use my own backing. So any of these items sent to me will be sent right on to others or even, gasp, thrown in the trash if I already have too many of them.
