I am always creating something crafty! Fabric is my favorite medium to use. Saturated colors, batiks, textures and polka dots, paisleys and swirls, word or text, pinks, blues, oranges, fall colors, I love them all. I am NOT fond of most civil war (pretty patterns, just too many muddy colors), food fabric or baby novelty fabric.
I like applique quilts and smaller quilt projects like runners or table toppers. I have my eye on the Baltimore Fall and Baltimore Christmas patterns. Maybe someday.
I've dabbled in scrapbooking and hand needlework (embroidery, needlepoint, cross stitch) for years though for the life of me, I can't get the hang of crochet and knitting, depressing. Update: I'm just starting to get the hang of crochet. My dish cloths are a little wonkey but improving. I've graduated from basic granny square to some interesting stitches. Yay for you tube videos!
I am working on a hexie (Grandmother's Garden) quilt. It's my "waiting room" quilt. I take a small gift bag with my hexies to stitch to different apointments. I love to work with wool- all those hand dyed colors! and easy to stitch. I've had fun making some Junker Jane dolls. The challenge of combining different elements is loads of fun.
I am enjoying creating ATCs now. The creativity when combining different but interesting elements is exciting and challenging. I find I'm attracted to florals, botanicals, birds, butterflies, bunnies, hedgehogs and cats. But then I also like grunge and industrial/steampunk. Maybe, because my husband is an architect, I like blueprints of anything, buildings or mechanical. Watercolor or color pencil used on ATCs is a favorite as well as hidden pockets with small surprises that find their way into what I make.
I have started to work on some multimedia canvas projects recently. I like the combining of textures and playing around with color. My stash of stencils is growing as well as different color mediums.
Family- I have one boys in high school and one just graduated and getting ready to go off to college. My husband is my best friend and we don't get away with each other often enough. I have three cats and a dog and a bearded dragon lizard named Spike.
I love to read and have solved the problem of which to do, sew or read, by listening to audio books on my iphone and sewing on my machine at the same time. My family knows they have to let me turn off the audio story before I can listen to them. The books range from sci-fi to regency romance to espionage.
I like to see what I can find at garage sales and thrift stores that I can use in crafting. I also keep an eye out for really old cookbooks, hopefully one's with the cooks comments written in them.
I love to bake but I eat what I make.... my body can't take all those calories!
I live in suburbia but think I would like living/owning a small farm.
