Description:

I am meeting so many interesting people that live in this little odd world of ours and some are becoming beautiful friends. Enjoy!

I plan on doing this every month, so sign up and join the fun! Please make sure you send your letter and click SENT. Make sure you respond to your partner that you have received it. And last, but not least, be patient...letters do get lost, and overseas mail can be incredibly slow.

If you have participated in past letter swaps and have still not sent your letter (mark SENT if you have), I will immediately drop you from this one. Sorry. There are just so many that are part of this, it's only fair to those of us who have written our letters....onto the real deal!!

This is a snail-mail swap. We are always on our computers and every other technology, pretty much at the same time. Wouldn't it be nice to open up your mailbox and receive a beautiful, hand written letter or card? Something to cheer up your day or something to read while you're enjoying a cup of tea or coffee? You can use just plain ink and plain paper or jazz it up a bit. I know their are plenty of you out there that would love to write a letter. The topic of your letter may be about anything, just make sure it's "nice." In other words, let your letter ring of happy thoughts, etc. We all have deep, dark secrets, but let's keep this light-hearted and fun, okay? Tell your partner something about yourself that makes you, YOU! Tell them where you are, what you do, etc. One page, "handwritten" is the minimum, but don't be afraid to write 2 or 3. I can see pen pals starting right here! This will be an international snail-mail swap, so enjoy!

I love getting letters and hearing about people all over the place!

user3321 10/ 4/2006 #

Is it maybe a bit of a shame to restrict the letter to be 'light-hearted and fun' - it seems to result in letters that are a bit 'isn't everything lovely!!' and maybe, perhaps, a little bit shallow? Maybe?

todsahonchik 10/ 5/2006 #

I am much better at typing than handwriting and my previous partners haven't objected to having letters typed. Hope its okay. I still include personal touches. I just can't write as fast as I can type.

Drachenfrau 10/ 5/2006 #

I think typing is ok. It's personal because it arrives via snail mail.

Mamameo 10/ 6/2006 #

Typing is a okay and adding personal touches to it is so awesome. I think as long as your letter writing is honest, truthful, and speaks of you and some of your thoughts, great. If you feel like sharing a deep, dark secret, well I think that may be a bit overkill. I know our lives aren't 100% happy, but I feel we have interesting things that we can share about ourselves without diving too deep. What do the rest of you think?

Drachenfrau 10/ 6/2006 #

@Vidya I think like you.

todsahonchik 10/ 7/2006 #

why can't you be light-hearted yet share political/ personal truths as well?

Mamameo 10/ 7/2006 #

Sure...absolutely, Tod! Share what is you! And if that's included, by all means!

user3922 10/10/2006 #

This is a fantastic way to hear from a person you otherwise would not meet in real life. I hope it is okay to type, as my handwriting is very illegible due to muscle spasms!

I love hearing about everyday life. I'm not into politics at all, but enjoy hearing others share about their faith (Christian, Buddhist, Jewish, Muslim, Wiccan, Pagan, and all others), their family, what they enjoy (do they sip coffee on a veranda, or do they sit quietly in a tea house and watch people go by?) Do they have a house filed with children, or are they grandparents who only see their family gather at Christmas? Perhaps they are single and struggling to make their mark. How does Autumn look in their part of the world? Sandy beaches, or dense forest, or even the pristine beauty of a desert?

Anyway, just a few helpful suggestions, since people seem to be a bit discouraged about not being able to write their deepest darkest secret. lol

My letter is on its way. :-)

Personally, I would prefer a handwritten letter, unless someone is phyically unable to do so. In my opinion, a letter isn't personal because it arrives in the mail. Its personal because someone created it by hand. You can look at a handwritten letter and see that someone put some time an effort into it. That, at least to me, is what this swap is all about.

I hope I'm not offending anyone, this is just my opinion. I'd rather recieved a short letter written by hand than a long typed or computer generated letter.
