I am looking to put my tree up soon for hte holidays. I LOVE handmade ornaments, and love even more getting them from other crafters.
With that in mind I am going to start an ornament series. Some will be specific, some will be totally free form. If you join all of them you will have a collection of interesting and completely unique ornaments to use in any holiday decorating! Below is the list of the series, I will add links as I create the swaps.
This is NOT just for Christmas! I will ask that no religious themes be used in materials - ie no crosses, religious verbiage, no dredels... use universal themes like peace, and love and harmony! Or just bright colors and textures, lol. There is also a public to view flickr group all participants will be invited to join to share photos of your creations - please share your thoughts and storeis!
For this first swap I would like everyone to make 1 stuffed bird, sender's choice on pattern and colors. The bird should be no more than 4 inches tall or smaller and either have a loop of some kind or something your swap partner can attach a hook or loop to for hanging.
The bird should be made out of fiber and have a 3D depth with some kind of stuffing. You can use whatever fiber you wish; felt, flannels, cottons... just sewn and stuffed. This could be a cool way to use up some scraps or recycle some fabric from old clothing etc! If you want to wait until you know your partner name, you will have 2 weeks to mail this out, so plenty of time to find out your partner's color likes and dislikes.
This is not open to newbies, and you must have a 4.8 rating and above with no unexplained 3's or 1's in the last 6 months. I will angel if needed, but lets all get this swap done and sent out on time! This is international. The stuffed birdies are very light weight but you should be prepared to send something in a small box or padded envie.
This is a type 3 swap, so be prepared to put some thought and effort into it! You can find VERY simple and fast patterns, and may want to make a whole series of birdies when you are done! This will not require great skill and can be sewn by hand, please don't hesitate to sign up if you are concerned you dont know how to make a birdie, see the links below for patterns and tutorials, or search out your own.
Below are just a few free stuffed bird patterns you can size for this swap. Super adoriable!
