Description:

In this game, we will swap one box full of media, which can include books, CDs, CDROM, DVDs, VHS tapes, cassette tapes, magazines, computer game discs, sheet music, maps, brochures, etc. Any type of media in any assortment, new, used or recorded by you. But you must include an assortment and not send, for example, a whole box full of just magazines. USA only, due to postage restrictions. You may use a USPS flat rate box to send your items by priority mail or, to save postage, you may use a similar size box and send your items by media mail rate. Let your partner know which method you use so she can estimate when the package will arrive. The box must be crammed full with items. The number of items will vary depending on the sizes of things.

You must have at least five completed swaps of things through the mail and no no-sends to join this swap. Please only sign up if you are willing to send items as specified. I can not angel for a whole box of items, so please be fair and send your box to your partner as promised. Please be patient as your box may arrive by surface mail, which takes longer than priority mail. The items will be a random assortment and not necessarily match your profile. You may get a chance to read, hear, watch or play something totally new to you. Have fun and please contact me with any questions, concerns, observations, or enter comments below.

Just a note for my partner: I don't have any of the game consoles. And I'm running the Linux operating system, not Windows. Just in case my partner wanted to make sure, I can really hear/see/play what I get ;)

I will take ANY printed material. CD's, DVD's, Mac (Mac OS X) and PC (Windows XP) software/games, PS1/2 games, NES, GameBoy, & GameCube.

Please no VHS or cassette tapes as I can't use them.

I especially love children's books and old cookbooks.

Keep in mind that this swap is a random surprise. You may get some things that you can not use because your partner does not need to follow profile or special requests to fullfill the requirements of the swap. If she does follow your requests, please be sure to give her a heart when you rate her.

I understand this swap is a random surprise and i'm cool with that, but i'd prefer no VHS or cassette tapes if at all possible..and i just acquired a playstation 1 so naturally i am looking for games for it!! and i always love DVDs, books, CDs :)

Okay, if we're all listing preferences then I suppose I should too...I'm operating Windows XP, I don't have a VCR machine or any game consoles, I like cookbooks, craft books, music books, CDs, DVDs and sheet music for piano.

Swan 01/20/2008 #

Oh, pianoheart, I didn't even think of sheetmusic before. Thanks for mentioning that. If I get you as a partner, there'll be at least one piece in the package ;)

I guess many of us have so many media around that we want to give away that it makes it even more fun to choose those items out of the pile that our partner would appreciate most. I'll for sure look in my partner's profile to choose at least a couple of things that way if I have something that fits.

On the other hand it's fun to know it's random, so there's no pressure to find anything and there's a big element of surprise what you're going to get.

How fun! I love this. I'm already looking around to see what I can send.

to my partner: I don't have a VHS or any game consoles. I do have a cassette player ;) and any printed media in any language is very welcome.

Yes, Swan, there are so many different kinds of media. I tried to keep this swap open to as many kinds as possible so it would be easy for anyone to play. Choosing a few things specifically for your partner is a great idea but try to keep it random so she can try some new things that she hasn't thought of yet :). I noticed in the Media Sampler Box Swap that your comment read that you have Windows and Linux operating systems on your computers. So if I get you as a partner, I can include some Windows software and games?

Swan 01/22/2008 #

Well, my husband uses Windows when he has to. So if he likes the software/game I'll give it to him, otherwise it'll be wasted and land in the "to get rid off" pile ;) He does play shoot-em-ups sometimes. Also those adventures where you go through a scenario - we sometimes play those together on his machine (even those that are made for older children - we enjoy that they are not so tough to figure out)...

this sounds like fun. i love craft magazines, comic books, cookbooks, CDs and DVDs, and i do have a PS2, Wii, and an Xbox360. i don't have a cassette player or VCR. and i love books and music in general, so i should be pretty happy with whatever i get!

daffyd1963 01/25/2008 #

I don't have a cassette player or VCR but anything will be great as I will just give away or trade what I can't use I think this will be a fun swap and will start working on my box this weekend.

Hello! I'd have no use for computer games. I do like vintage stuff, say from the 1950s or before (I'm thinking books or magazines). Music is great (cds): folk, alternative, reggae, bluegrass, classical & classic rock. I like foreign movies; dvds preferred but I can watch VHS, so no worries if that's what you have to share. I love surprises!
