Description:

Thank you to @ninou for pointing us to the tutorial for these adorable fabric house ornaments! This swap series has been a great success in the Nuts for Sewing group and this one, #8, will take us through the end of 2012. I love these little houses!

We will all follow this tutorial to make one fabric house ornament for our partners:

Fabric House Ornament Tutorial

  • For this swap, we will use WINTER COLORS and patterns. This is NOT Christmas but winter. So think of snowmen, snow drifts, ice, and primarily white, blues, blue-grays, and silvers like this color palette. A touch of red could be a pretty accent color.

  • For the main body of the house, please keep the linen look (as in the pattern) by using linen, linen blend, or Osnaburg fabric.

  • You may keep the little bird (as in the pattern) or replace it with another design. I received one with beautiful flowers from a partner. Something winter-related (but not Christmasy) would be a thoughtful addition this month. As long as there is something in that space, we will leave that up to your creative whim.

  • While our skill levels are all different, please do your best to follow the tutorial, choose cute fabrics, and do good quality work.

  • Using scraps from previous projects is fine, but please use only good quality ones with nice, appropriately-themed patterns; this isn't the time to destash your ugly fabrics! ;-)

  • There is lots of time to try out the pattern before partners are assigned to make sure it's a project you're comfortable with. This is not a profile-specific swap, so you can get started on it at any time.

  • Be sure to include the swap name and your Swap-bot name in the package for ease in rating.

  • Sending on time is considered part of the swap requirements. In the rare circumstance that you must send a little late, please contact your partner and the swap coordinator before the deadline has passed.

Participant Requirements
This swap is for those with a minimum of 10 completed/rated Type 3 (package/craft) swaps that include a significant crafting portion. Prior to assigning partners, I will check last log-in date, current swaps (to make sure there aren't any overdue), and ratings (no unexplained/unresolved 1s or 3s). Please PM me with any questions or concerns.

Happy sewing!!!
