Description:

This idea came to me while looking through the various papers I wrote Swapbot information on, and I thought..there must be a better way to do this! So, I thought it would be cool to make a Swapbot organizer. Basically it would be a book where you write down all of your Swapbot transactions in order to keep them organized. This way, you'll easily be able to keep track of what you send and receive.

You will need a notebook, notepad, or anything with pages (even an index card box would work here), and it should be able to be divided into sections, and have at least 60 pages. The size should be at least 4 x 6. The catch is that you have to decorate it, and you can decorate it anyway you want to. Then when you complete the project, you'll send it off to your partner. You can make it based on something off your partner's profile that they like, or just design it the way you want to..just make it look nice! There will be 3 weeks in which to complete the project, so there won't be any need to feel rushed. You must be rated in at least three swaps to join--I just don't want to risk it on this project. Also, this swap is international. Hope everyone has fun with this! Any questions please PM me and I'll answer to the best of my ability.

it's a great idea! i actually JUST (like an hour ago) purchased a really nice book for this. So, i might sit out. LOVE IT THOUGH! Vee*

Good idea! Just today I got the idea of printing out partners' likes and dislikes lists to take when I go shopping for profile-based or higher-stakes swaps, so I don't have to remember everything. An organizer would be a good way to keep track of those.

What a great idea...

I actually have a different system, involving index cards, can I put that together in a cool and decorated way instead of the notebook? Just wondering, I'm in either way.

I didn't think I'd get such a big response already! You guys can do pretty much whatever you want to, it just needs to be big enough to put all of the information in and have at least 60 sheets. But yeah, pretty much anything you can come up with...your imagination is the limit!

I've got a great little notebook for this, it's 10.5cm x 14.5cm, I think that's about 4 x 6 inches (I'm Canadian, eh), but it has 240 pages and 4 divided sections. I use the same for my swaps and it keeps me nice 'n organized, it's a bit smaller, but has lots 'o pages. Is that ok, or shall I keep this one for myself and find a bigger one?

You can do that too, basically anything that can be divided into sections would be alright.

This is a great idea! If I were even a little bit organized I would definitely join.

Fab! I'd tried to set up a complex but thorough electronic version but it was getting a bit too complicated in the end.. but I learnt a lot about what works and what doesn't in the process ;)

Although I'm very easy to please, if my partner could put something together which allows me to move pages between sections, I'd be extra grateful - I like to be able to sort swaps based on whether they are "to do", "waiting on the mail" or "finished", and I currently have a system where I pin the upcoming crafty swaps to my wall next to my crafting space - always easier for all these if you can use the same piece of paper in each case!

great idea for a swap and I am with Rillaith, it would need to be possible to move pages or cards from one section to another! I already have my idea in place and will start work as soon as I get my partner!

I think I'm going to have to bow out, I need to get my finances/swaps in order. (I'm broke) If I can sort it out by sign up, I'll be back in.

Okay, I'm going to give this one a shot. Hopefully it will inspire me to be more organized in general!

I got this really cool idea to use 3x5 index cards. i know it's smaller than the 4x6 requirement, but is it okay? or should i shoot for some larger index cards?

BlackDiamond 03/31/2008 #

That would be fine, it doesn't have to be that exact size, anything close to 4 x 6 is good enough :)

I don't know why I JUST found this swap today but WHAT a great idea! I'm going to work on mine in the next day or two~(I'm getting ready to bind my Spring book) so why not make something like this (just another reason to get out my zutter thingie)....

this is such a great idea!!!!!!! i have been using tons and tons of sticky papers writing down all my swap info, trying ot keep it organized... i would love a little journal/book-esque swap organizer!

JewelzyBug 04/ 2/2008 #

Very interesting swap. I use an excel spreadsheet on my computer and track what and when I send them, the send by date, everyone's mailing addresses I send to, the rating I got for it, when I received something, the date I receieved it, what I got and the rating I gave them. If it is a quote postcard swap I also keep track of the quote I sent. This way I never send the same thing to one person! Hope everyone has fun with this.

BlackDiamond 04/ 2/2008 #

Wow, my system isn't even that organized..kudos to you! Hopefully this will push me to be more organized...haha. Only 2 more days, I can't wait to put this together for my partner :)
