Now that the holidays are done lets do a swap to exchange all of the leftover craft items we have.

I'm making this US only because of the nature of the swap.

You will need to get the large ONE RATE Priority mail box (size 11-7/8" x 3-3/8" x 13-5/8") from the post office. You will stuff this box with as much as you can. Shipping will cost $8.10 for the box for up to 15 lbs. Please make sure that the craft items you send are useable.

I will be emailing everyone that signs up with a questionable rating before I ban them from the swap.

There is a lot of difference in the size of the flat rate boxes. One is twice the size or more, than the other. I think that we need to agree on one or the other. I vote for the big shirt box size one!

cherriza 11/11/2006 #

There really wasn't to much size difference the large one came out to 543.064 and the other came out to 514.25 but I put in the large size so everything is consistent.

user4203 11/16/2006 #

Wow! I never imagined they would hold the same amount! The smaller looking one, looks much smaller!

Thanks,

funkykchicken 11/22/2006 #

Hello I joined the swap but i have a concern.I have a huge amount of stuff but even then im not sure it will completely fill the box.Does it have to be really full to the top full?

cherriza 11/24/2006 #

I would try to stuff as much as you can in the box but I'm sure everyone will understand. I'm probably going to hit some clearance sales for holiday stuff to add also. I got a bunch of halloween stuff at like 90% off. I'll do the same after Christmas. I have some yarn skeins that I'm not using and some fabric so that will go in my box as well. That big of a box just makes it easier to put the bigger bulkier stuff into. You may be suprised on how full it will actually be.

user4899 11/25/2006 #

I prefer more paper craft items. I dont knit or sew. Scissors that have a pattern, paper (especially textured, embossed, handmade..., text/book pages in different languages, used postage stamps, rubber stamped images on cardstock, ribbons, brads, stickers, adhesives, silk/paper flowers... metal embellishments, etc. Prefer not to get anything pink, glitter or yarn. THANKS! - nerk76

cherriza 11/27/2006 #

Just remember that if you are too specific you may not get a full box because the purpose of this is to pass on items that you can no longer use. In my case I have some of those things above that you are requesting but not enough to fill the box. I'm going to fill my box and the person that I send to can keep what they want and pass on the rest. Just remember that you don't have to sew fabric. It makes great backgrounds and embelishments.

Remember the purpose of this swap is to pass on what you don't need anymore. Try to make it a variety so that the person receiving the box can at least use something.

funkykchicken 11/28/2006 #

Untill you mentioned the yarn and fabric i never thought of passing on the ones i dont use.It is very hard to fill a box with just pages, paper and embellishments which is why i was concerned.Yarn and fabric are not as requested as the other things. So if my partner doesent want them then i may not be able to fill a box either.

user4899 11/29/2006 #

I didnt think I mentioned anything too outrageous to not include. I didnt say anything about not sending fabric, I just said I prefer no yarn. I dont use it -- dont like the look of it and its just not my thing -- I was just stating my opinion.

cherriza 11/29/2006 #

Nerk: That's fine. I just didn't want people to start being really specifc on what they wanted as that's not the nature of this swap. You may get something you don't want that's fine just pass it on to someone else that can use it.

Funkychicken: Add whatever you want. unused Project kits you'll never do, yarn, fabric, scrapbooking supplies, paint, embelishments, scissors, ribbon, beads, stamps, stickers etc. Pretty much go through all of your supplies and evaluate what you will use and what you can pass on. Make sure it's useable and clean though. I do ask that you make it a little bit of everything in the box so that the person receiving it can at least use something and not get stuck with a whole box of something that is worthless to them. Also look at your partners profile to see if there is something in there that they like that you may have and make it heavy on that but add something else to spark their creativity.

Also remember that this is an after the holidays swap so you may get quite a few different holiday or season themed items.

This is what i have available to send to my partner in the scrapbook dept paper, charms, buttons, bottle caps, stickers not the yucky cutesy ones like for children, emphera (paper)that comes in the little booklets, metal embellishments and various fabric embellishments.I also have some pearl ex in various colors and some ribbon charms.I have some distress inks that i plan to include along with some beads.I will include the paper flowers i have from the prima flower line,All of these are brand new and unused.

In the fibers dept i have some beautiful yarn type ribbon and some yarn in the hippie colors.I also have some ribbon for embroidery and i have some silk roving. The silk roving can be made into paper i will include some instructions. You can add it to your altered books and then sew through with contrasting thread. So many uses for it im sure she will love it.

In the used dept i have emphera out the wahoo that i will never use and dont care for.So whoever i send to will like their box.I can include unmounted stamps (unused) as well as face cabs.I have a huge number of cigar boxes really nice ones and will include one if they want.I also planned to send some candy as i like candy when im working on a project.I just have the no carb stuff so if my partner is watching carbs let me know.

The only thing i dont want please is stuff in pastel colors.Im a fiber artist i make mini quilts, fabric books, artist bags.I also work with paper just no pastels please.Im not picky i like old worn out items think thrift shop and your old doilies and vintage clothing is fine (dont mind stains or age spots)with me.I dont mind old buttons and fabric embellishments as well as old jewelry broken or not ect is fantastic.

All in all i think my box will be suited to fiber artists as well as altered book artists ect.Ive put togather a well rounded mix i hope.I belong to a yahoo group that swaps items as well and im always swapping and getting interesting items. Thanks for hosting this i cant wait to see who i send to

funkykchicken 11/30/2006 #

Just wanted to add that i would never dream of sending unclean or worthless items. Its a bit subjective though is it not? Ive read profiles on here and alot of people really dont say.So i will post who im sending to when the time comes.

user5076 12/ 8/2006 #

I can't resist this one. No matter what I get, if I don't use it I'll just save it for another swap! I'll be sure to make a note of who it came from so I don't send it back to them. I'm a born again knitter but have tons of other stuff including some old craft magazines and cards that don't spark my muse anymore. If I get you FunkyChicken I'll be sure to include some of my old craft doilies I made ages and ages and ages ago! Merry Swapping!

knitster 12/ 9/2006 #

This sounds like fun! I am a scrapbooker, knitter, and beader so I have a variety of all kinds of things. And I like the idea of the old magazines...I can never get enough craft magazines of any kind.

daffyd1963 12/21/2006 #

this sounds like a great swap I have loads of stuff ready for my box lots of ephermia, some letter stickers and words some fun textured paper these are new in the package , I also have lots of broken jewerly, material, tags, corks, buttons, beads, decorative napkins, and lots of other stuff I will check with my partner also to get a better idea of what they would like and I don't think I even own anything pink or pastel I can use most anything I do mostly paper arts but use fabric and ribbon and misc items in my art as well I love charms, brads, buttons, beads, and differnt inks and dyes and papers, rubber stamps mounted and unmounted, fibers, and face cabs and most anything really
actually Funkychicken's box sounds perfect to me but im sure I will be happy with whoever I get for a partner and whatever they send. I love getting new or (new to me ) things to try I am in lots of different supply swaps and whatever I get something that I can't use goes into a box to be given to someone else. carolyn h

cherriza 12/23/2006 #

Ok everyone I just want to ease everyones mind that I'm checking in on the people that sign up and taking action when I need to. To anyone that I've emailed please make sure to email me back before the swap deadline so I don't have to ban you.

Susi 12/23/2006 #

ok, here I go again, signing up for yet another swap, but this one seems to ccol to pass up! I have tons of scrapbooking mags that I don;t use anymore, and a bunch of old kits I got and are just put away forgotten (until today, 'cause i just found them!) count me in.... susi

user2955 12/27/2006 #

If you draw my name, and you care what I want I am going to list my preferences. I like anything related to sewing, embroidery, knitting, or crochet. I also draw, paint (acrylic and water color), do digital photography and collage. I tried scrapbooking but it is not for me so I hope not to receive scrapbooking stuff. I have some to pass on though so I hope I draw a scapbooker's name. Thanks so much!!

Aly

FarStarr 01/ 3/2007 #

I just realized that there was someone else listed as "Mandy" on swap-bot, so I changed myself to "farstarr". I hope this doesn't cause huge confusion....Waynda, your package is on it's way!

daffyd1963 01/ 4/2007 #

I mailed my package out this morning I hope my partner enjoys it. I also have way to much stuff and could easily fill up a couple more boxes. carolyn h

cherriza 01/ 6/2007 #

FarStarr - Your package is in the mail Monday morning. I missed it today.

FarStarr 01/ 7/2007 #

Ooooohhh...I'm so excited! PS-Cherriza, my daughter's birthday IS Halloween so it's a big holiday in our house too!

funkykchicken 01/ 8/2007 #

My items will be going out tomorrow i hope she will like it.

user2955 01/ 8/2007 #

I received my box today and I must say I am very disappointed. The box is definitely full and some people might consider these craft supplies but there is absolutely nothing I would consider usable. I do not think this was one person's leftover craft supplies. It is more like a bunch of people dumped the bottom of their craft drawers into ziploc bags and gave them to a yard sale, then my swap partner bought all the ziploc bags and sent them to me. Is there anyone out there who makes collages or ATC and would love a box of bits and pieces of stuff? I will happily forward my box to you and pay the postage. Send me your address and you get a secong box. It has a slight odor of musty basement.

daffyd1963 01/ 9/2007 #

Aly I do colleges and ATCs and could probally use a lot of the stuff in your box if its not taken yet I would love to have it I will even send you some fabric and sewing stuff in return I don't know how to send you an e-mail so im posting here carolyn h

riario 01/ 9/2007 #

I got my package yesterday and the box isn't the same size as the one I was planning on sending. I think it is even larger, shaped more like a really big shoe box. I just checked the dimesions you listed and that is the same as the box I have, shaped like a shirt box. Maybe this is where some of the confusion comes from. My post office only has 2 sizes and neither is as large as what my partner sent me.

user2955 01/ 9/2007 #

Carolyn - I am going to try to post a photo of the stuff so you can decide if it is worth it. I am leaning towards donating it to my school's art department for the kids to use in collaging. It really does look like garbage. Check the gallery some time tomorrow.

user4546 01/10/2007 #

I received my package today and I am quite dissapointed as well. Although the box was filled to the max, it was filled with very old and mostly unusable items. The fabric samples were a nice gesture but they are all too small to make anything with and they have holes in them. I appreciate the effort that went into making the package but the contents did not go along with the swap rules.

user3094 01/10/2007 #

Received a Treasure Filled Box from Aly. Thanks.

cherriza 01/10/2007 #

riario - your box size is correct.

FarStarr 01/10/2007 #

Cherri, Just got my box! Thanks! I especially like the silk ribbon. My daughter,Steph, scoffed all the Halloween stuff right away! Mandy

cherriza 01/10/2007 #

Since these are One Rate Priority Mail Boxes everyone should receive their box by Friday or Saturday at the most. If by Monday you do not have a box in your hand please let me know ASAP.

ae4me 01/12/2007 #

Oh Rario, I'm glad you got your box. Yes it was one of the flat rate sizes just crammed full. I usually dont like that one because it has to be taped but the gal at the postoffice was really nice (sometimes they are rude when the edges are bulging) Oh well I'm glad you got it. Hope you didn't mind so much of the same material but I couldn't stand cutting it cuz what if you would want more.... connie

cherriza 01/13/2007 #

I got my box. Thank you so much it had a lot of neat stuff in it.

Cherri

Waynda, I received my box today & I just have to tell you how excited I am. This was my best swap ever!!!! I love what you sent. Thank you!! Jackie

Susi 01/17/2007 #

i got my box and was a bit disappointed beecause the bulk of the box was 3 full skeins of yarn! I'll pass them on to someone who can use them! I also got some kind of yellow fuzzy or cottony stuff, strange, but I'll find a use for it. hmmm, what else... a spool of pink thread, some really cool white fuzzy fibers, and the thing I liked the best was a nice baggie filled with little "stuff" beads, buttons, baubles, a bit of of everything. That made the whole box worthwhile! is there anyone who'd like to trade some of their thing s that they don't want (the bags of odds and ends junk sounds very cool, carolyn and I will have to fight for it, if you don't give it to your kids school! Anyway, I have 2 eull skeins of green yarn, and one full red one if anyone wants to trade anything for it... I like buttons and beads and found object like keys etc.... email me if you can use the yarn ssusi [email protected]

ae4me 01/19/2007 #

Nerk76... I recieved your package....It's overflowing with wonderful what could beeesss... I have not gone through all of it yet... I took a little to work with me (boy were the other lady's interested) I just kept finding more and more amaizing things! Thanks a lot! connie

user4899 01/26/2007 #

Krista -- I recved a box from you today. A lil late and smaller box than I expected but filled with lots of lil "treasures" that I'm sure I'll put to good use.
The candy sweetened the deal!
