Description:

"Ephemera is any transitory written or printed matter not meant to be retained or preserved. The word derives from the Greek, meaning things lasting no more than a day."

But, as crafters, can we really bear to throw anything away? We either say "I can use that on a project someday" or "Maybe I can pass that along to someone else who can use it."

Well, I know my stash of pass-along ephemera is getting out of control, so it is now time to pass it on! Fill a 6x9 or larger envelope with random ephemera pieces, maybe someone else can use them on their projects!!

1 envelope to 1 partner.

Types of ephemera include:

-Used notecards and card fronts

-postcards

-pamphlets

-matchbooks

-tickets and ticket stubs

-programs from shows/plays

-old menus

-playing cards

-pics from newspapers and magazines

-fortunes from fortune cookies

The list goes on and on!! Please do not send 'junk' that will not be used, only quality items!

I will be going through profiles before assigning partners.

Hi, Laura...just wondering...would this category include things like old book pages and sheet music rescued from the dump? Or bit (cards etc) from old board games (likewise rescued)? Or is it intended to be only things that were originally intended to be short-lived?

Funny you should mention old board games. I was just thinking the other day about going to Goodwill, hoping to score an old Monopoly game for 50 cents. I would love to make a Smashbook page using Monopoly money, chance cards, and property "deeds".

Goodwill is my favorite haunt for ephemera. My last trip offered up a teenager's comp. book. Not full - but with drawings as well as text. A foreign language textbook. A Bunco Game with used score pads, always a treat. Plus, I check every board game for boards, game cards of all kinds, score pads and game pieces and dice. What a wealth of goodies for next to nothing. Many even cheaper than garage sales. Hope this gives you some ideas. Happy swapping everyone.

OMG - One of my favorite Goodwill stores burned last night. :-(
