Description:

The other day I took a walk in the lovely forest near my house, but at the very end of the walk I realized that the entire time I had been thinking about other things, problems, to do lists while I walked and completely failed to notice the beauty surrounding me. What a missed opportunity that was :(

If you've ever found yourself doing that, I thought it would be a nice idea to take a consciously present moment to step out into nature, turning off the brain chatter and instead focusing on the surroundings. Notice something that you find beautiful, fascinating or meaningful about nature and write a haiku about it. Small scale observation, large scale, its all up to you.

If you are unfamiliar with what a Haiku is, here is a brief description:

A haiku is made up of three lines. It traditionally contains one season word, and contains no rhyming or metaphors. The total syllable count is 17 syllables, and the syllables follow per line 5-7-5. A haiku is meant to be simple, succinct, and aptly portray the vision or thought implied.

You can also search the web for more examples.

Write your Haiku, plus a short greeting (and optional description of where you were when you wrote it) to your partner on any kind of postcard, storebought or handmade, (PC doesn't have to reflect the subject of the haiku at all) and send it NAKED.

I thought it might be fun to have a series of these that we can bind into a little poetry book.
