Description:

April is National Poetry Month! This will be a month long swap series for poets and burgeoning writers in honor of this month. Each week, we'll explore a different theme or style of poetry, and there are many styles and ways to craft your poems.

**This Week's Theme and Style - ** The theme is Struggle and it should be written in free-form/blank verse style or unrhymed, Iambic Pentameter.

Rules and Requirements

  • Your poem should be at least 7 lines long and no more than one and a half pages.

  • Poems may be handwritten or typed.

  • Enclose a short note explaining the inspiration for your poem.

  • 1 poem, 1 partner.

  • This series is open to international swappers.

  • Swappers must be in good standing - no unexplained 1s or 3s and I reserve the right to ban anyone I feel is questionable.

  • Newbies are welcome!

You will have one week to send your poem. If you wish to participate in the entire series, poems will be due in the mail by each Friday (to include May 1st) for each series swap. As soon as partners are assigned for one, the next will be posted.

Thanks for posting this. A lot of free verse is not iambic pentameter, that makes it more of a challenge even though iambic pentameter is so frequently what we speak without realizing it. I for one will not rate down a poem I receive if it's not in iambic pentameter.

@junemoon - I've edited that to be clear. I could have sworn I put "or", not "that is" in there. I'm losin' it today.

Hi! I just create an account today but I really want to participate in this swap. I like to write and I'm interested in how you are running this with specific topics and all, so please, let me in :)
