About Me

NOTE: I ALWAYS RATE, USUALLY THE DAY I RECEIVE A SWAP. I would be happy if others would treat swaps received from them the same way. I usually mail very soon after partners are assigned, so if you haven't received a swap, PM me, I'll resend.

I am a writer, a quilter and a traveler. I live in Manhattan in a smallish apartment with too many things in it. I'm trying to give away books and other "stuff" like greeting cards and blank notebooks which I've accumulated; I may well include some such with a swap if your profile suggests it might suit you.

Things I like: cotton fabrics, chocolate [all kinds] real teas [not fruit flavors[, all colors - no special favorites. I don't like kawaii or other cutesy stuff. I'm a pretty serious person.
I love the writing swaps, and since I quilt passionately I love the fabric swaps - fabric is another thing I have really stashed up in. As well as quilt books, ribbons and buttons too. I especially collect fabrics that have some metallic in their patterns and also sky and landscape-y designs. I like rubber stamps with patterns I can stamp on fabric or envelops & stationary.

I really appreciate notes that tell me about who you are and where you live, knowing what makes people individual is the fun part of any correspondence.

Favorite Music

Classical, the usual big names, Beethoven, Mozart, Schubert, and just about the whole mixed bunch. I play the piano and especially enjoy all sorts of piano music.always.

Favorite Movies

I perfer European movies to American, usually. Loved Lord of the Rings. Want good acting rather than entertainment or thrills or even laughs. Admire good script writing which occasionally happens in American movies, but not often.

Favorite Television

Do not have a TV, consider most of it mind numbing drek. I read A LOT! I do not read genre books, as I said I'm pretty serious and especially about literature. I like books by important foreign authors, poetry, books about nature or people's travels and many kinds of non-fiction but not self-help.

Favorite Crafts

Quilting most of all. I like other textile crafts. I like the paper crafts -- not cutesy, good graphics, nice color sense. All writing is craft; I write A LOT, love writing letters, as well as poetry, fiction, nonfiction and journals -- also my blogs one of which is supposed to be about quilting but is also about what I'm reading or concerned with and a recently started blog that is for my serious side and for occasional crabby rants. I'd love it if people who go to my blogs would leave a note.

Response: I've thought for years of writing a play with 4 or 5 women but I think this is as far as it goes. I'm into a major project and don't want to take a side road now. Thanks for the comment.

Comment: How nice to hear from you! I really enjoyed your letter. I had been having problems with this swap because it seemed that my life has gone as it needed to. You seem to have some of the same joy in yours. I loved the postcards you sent. The girls will enjoy them. It has been such a treat to share a bit of your life. Thank you for making this a wonderful swap for me.

Thank you for the wonderful wishlist package. I love the hand-decorated travel journals and am looking forward to reading the book.

sacredsnatch on Aug 13, 2008:

Ms. June,

I wanted to thank you for the article regarding Frida's Wardrobe. That was extremely thoughtful of you. I have had that book on my amazon wish list for quite some time, and now I am even more motivated to purchase it. Last month I was fortunate enough to go see Frida's exhibit at the MOMA in SF. To say it was amazing is certainly an understatement.

Again, thank you so much for thinking of me!

Besos,

Yoli
