Swap Coordinator:TerryF (contact)
Swap categories: Challenges
Number of people in swap:16
Location:International
Type:Type 3: Package or craft
Last day to signup/drop:February 23, 2007
Date items must be sent by:March 12, 2007
Number of swap partners:1
Description:

March 14 is International Pi Day, so this is a swap for one handmade (max. value $5) OR handwritten (maximum 1 page) item related to Pi. If you check out this website:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pi_Day

you will see that Pi can be VERY broadly interpreted.

For example, you could: - make an ATC using circles or the numbers 3.14159 - quilt a potholder with a pie appliqued on it - write a poem about Einstein - write a chatty letter and include your favourite pie recipe

Explore Pi as broadly as you wish but be sure to include a little explanation for your swap partner if the connection to your item/article is not obvious. This will be sender's choice.

This is an international swap and newbies are welcome but profiles must be completed and I will be checking in with everyone before the sign by date.

I reserve the right to ban anyone I feel is not reliable. Please contact me in advance if you have a shaky history so we can discuss.

(Every year at work we share fruit pies at 1:59 p.m. on March 14! Now if only we could send each other pie....!!!)

*MARCH 8: If anyone has not received their swap by April 12, please let me know and I will make good on it. Sorry, but I will only be able to do this if you advise me by that date. Thx.

TerryF 01/29/2007 #

Welcome dimanche!

TerryF 01/29/2007 #

Welcome Joanne and Chickadee too!

Paula 01/30/2007 #

What a great idea, I had to sign up.

Now I've got this odd craving for pie. With ice cream.

AshleyShea 01/30/2007 #

How could I NOT sign up! I write math books for a living, but I've never heard of Pi day! I'll have to bring a pie to the office that day. Thanks for telling me about this.

TerryF 01/30/2007 #

Happy to have you Peety and AshleyLea!

TerryF 01/30/2007 #

purplemorgan and simsan - welcome too!

ktsmurf 01/30/2007 #

Oh my goodness I love this idea! I won Pi day contests in high school each year. I had fogotten about how much nerdy fun Pi Day is. Thanks for the reminder!

Kate

ktsmurf and mediatinker: Glad to have you join us nerds!

Mel 02/ 1/2007 #

Awesome, unique swap theme - I simply must join you all. My husby is one of those people who knows pi to the nth place (I'm not, but it's a cool symbol!)

Thanks for thinking of it! :)

This is too cool - I've already got it planned out :D

TerryF 02/ 1/2007 #

Mel and muushuu: Thanks for joining! Tassy

TerryF 02/ 1/2007 #

Welcome sungazer!

Jobeg 02/ 2/2007 #

This is a great idea. Everyone I have ever told about pi day looks at me like I made it up. Nice to know I'm not the only math nerd out there. :)

TerryF 02/ 3/2007 #

Welcome home, jobeg!

TerryF 02/ 3/2007 #

Thans for joining us luvsseattle!

TerryF 02/14/2007 #

I see that our numbers have jumped recently - welcome everyone else who has joined!

user5762 02/20/2007 #

You mentioned a lot of possibilities; so it could be an ATC or a 4 x 4? Thought I\'d better ask.

Chickadee (aka Fay)

TerryF 02/20/2007 #

Chickadee: Those would qualify as long as they are \"Pi(e\") related.

mediatinker 02/26/2007 #

My Pi is in the mail!

zanylady 03/ 2/2007 #

Hooboy, someone is on their toes. I received my Pi day clebration...but postoffice put bar code over your name. It's from Onondaga NY....thanks for you collage!

Cool you are from Onondaga...I went to Syracuse U and sipped a few beers in your neck of the woods.

I'm still working on my Pi offering....this is fun. First time celebrating the day and enjoying it!

Marlene

TerryF 03/ 5/2007 #

Everyone, please post pics of your swaps!

zanylady 03/ 7/2007 #

I sent off my Pi offerings to Kate in Oregon. Enjoy!

I surely had a good time with this swap!

Glad to hear everyone is having fun with this! Don't forget that Monday is the last mailing day. If you have to be late, please, as a courtesy, let your partners know right away. Thx!

dimanche 03/ 8/2007 #

I recieved a great necklace and card from my partner, and sent out my item to Peety yesterday!

TerryF 03/ 8/2007 #

jessie-messie-bo-bessie really used her imagination on this one! It is a spiraling, ceiling to floor, paper mobile on a pretty beaded hanger - of the first 314 numbers of Pi! Too much fun! Thx jessie-messie-bo-bessie! T.

I will post another pic of it hung up on the weekend.

Paula 03/10/2007 #

I got mine sent off before I got a picture of it, sorry. I won't describe it in case it hasn't arrived yet.

Dimanche's very cool Pie/Pi zine arrived today. It has circular pages, of course. If you read it in one direction, it's all about Pi. If you read it in the other direction, it's all about Pie. Thanks, Dimanche!

TerryF 03/10/2007 #

AshleyShea, the good swap host that I am, I won't be mailing out your swap until Monday! It WILL be in the mail on time but it can take a while for mail to get anywhere from here in Canada, so please be patient. Thx. T.

mediatinker 03/12/2007 #

Dimanche, glad the pi package arrived safely!

AshleyShea 03/14/2007 #

Not to worry, Tassy! I had a great Pi Day at work today just because you introduced me to this glorious day. So I'll just be able to celebrate it again when your package arrives! ;-)

mediatinker 03/15/2007 #

maebeajane - i love the "Pi Day mini cookbook" - thanks!!

AshleyShea 03/18/2007 #

Thank you, Tassy, for your gift. I plan on taking my Pi bookmark to work with me. It will be the envy of my mathy co-workers. ;-)

TerryF 03/19/2007 #

You're welcome AshleyShea. I meant to include in your package the leftover Pi fabric (pic posted)- I will send it along shortly. T.
