As everyone knows, Pencil Day is celebrated on March 30th. What, you didn't know that? =P

  • This is an international swap.
  • You will have 2 partners.
  • You will be sending:

A minimum of 3 pencils per partner and a notebook that you have decorated the cover of for your partner. Try to use good sized notebooks (8.5"x11" or regular sized) so they are useful for your partner. Decorate them how you wish but try to make sure your work is sturdy so nothing falls off.

If you feel like sending more pencils or other goodies, please feel free to. Just remember, each envelope you send out needs to have 3 pencils and a decorated notebook.

Many thanks to manela for suggesting this swap for those who do not wish to make ATCs, but still wish to participate in a pencil swap. :)

I reserve the right to drop anyone that has a rating of less than 3.0 and/or more than two no-sends, so please don't sign up if that is you. Everyone deserves to receive something. Please keep up your end so nobody has a bad experience. Newbies are welcome to play. Thanks.

HI! thank you for accepting my suggestion and I'm in of course!!!

user6110 02/ 6/2007 #

What do you mean by decorating the notebook?

simplysarah 02/ 7/2007 #

is this international or not?

missnatalie 02/ 7/2007 #

Urban Diva - decorate the notebook how you wish. Drawings, collage, cut/paste, whichever you want. I plan on using mine as a big big ATC. :O)

simply sarah - yes, it's international. that is typically the first line in my swaps. :)

user6110 02/ 8/2007 #

Thanks SO much! I just have one last question. What type of notebook? Spiral or more like a binder? =]

simplysarah 02/ 9/2007 #

If we would actually prefer a smaller size notebook would that be okay? I'd like to have one thats at least a 4x6 but not bigger than 8x8...that way it will fit in my favorite bag! Not to be picky, but I also prefer no lined pages, but will use it either way...

thanks!!

Thanks for organising! I would love any notebook (lined or unlined), however decorated - it'll be such a surprise! :-)

missnatalie 02/10/2007 #

Urban Diva - A spiral notebook for this swap.

simply sarah - it's okay to list requests. Your partner may be able to accomodate.

I only mention size because I don't want someone to spend time decorating a full sized notebook and get a itty bitty 3x4 back in return. Try to make it a fairly substantial notebook so your partner can use it for something other than a grocery list. :)

ozrob 02/15/2007 #

I had never heard of Pencil Day! will a 6x8 notebook be ok? This sounds like fun.

missnatalie 02/24/2007 #

ozrob -

a 6x8 should be fine. It\'s big enough to write in comfortably, but still a bit smaller to make postage okay. :)

I am in this group, and would just like to make a request - I've gotten four swaps recently, with absolutely NO way of knowing who sent them - since many of us use "nicknames" here, PLEASE include some reference to that in the swap - otherwise, we have no way of rating the swap, or even knowing who it came from - I'm become so frustrated trying to find out WHO sent to me, even after reading every single profile, but with NO luck, I'm almost ready to give up! So please - pretty please - include your SWAP name somewhere in the swap!

I have problem with the size... I've just bought notebooks. They are 15x21 cm. Is that OK?

ellawitch 03/ 1/2007 #

i would honestly prefer a smaller notebook than a bigger one... i use smaller ones more - thanks!

TaraInColorado 03/ 2/2007 #

I am cool with any size, and am partial to graph paper & or vellum (I write with fountain pens), but I will use and love anything, so just express yourself and have fun. I also have an 8 year old daughter who will more than likely get one of the notebooks, so if you want to do kid themed/ purple, that would work! I am easy to please.

Jan & Windy--you both have excellent profiles so I've already got an idea of what to get, but if you're lusting after anything in particular let me know & I'll try to accommodate.

:) fun! yay! Tara

decorated notebooks and etc are winging their ways to Farmington Hills and Colo. Springs - Jan and Tara, I sure do hope you like them, it was SO much fun making these! (They will go out in tomorrow's mail, since our mailman did not show up today - and I'm disabled and do not drive, or could have taken them to the PO. Sorry about that - Have a good week, MaryB

Remember - in the US, turn your clocks ahead one hour tomorrow night!

user5985 03/ 9/2007 #

Dominika and Manuela-- yours will be on their way first thing in the morning!

have not received anything yet - whoever is receiving from Jenna Perry probably won't receive - her profile has been deleted - and I've "met" her in two other swaps - both no-sends - problem is, tho, ratings do not show up on deleted profiles - so her "numbers" remain the same....

I sent to Tara Bachofen - but have not heard a word if she received hers or not - and I see she has not sent either -

I made a tiny quilt, and attached it to the front of the two notebooks I sent - put quite a bit of time and care into them - so I do hope they arrive safely - and would sure like to hear if artizlife (or Tara) received theirs.

anyway, I'm still waiting, to receive either one of them - have a good week, everyone

Happy St Pat's Day - wear something GREEN, haha

MaryB

TaraInColorado 03/17/2007 #

Yes, Mary, I received it! You did make a lovely quilt! And the stickers were great too. Thank you. I have had a housefull of sick family the past two weeks--hectic to say the least, but I will get out the promised goods to artizlife today (I sent Windy's already).

I think I heard that Jenna is in a coma. Life interferes sometimes with the way we look on paper.

I am so glad it is starting to be spring. I'm going to get out and enjoy some sunshine.

gramsbuttonbox 03/25/2007 #

well - yet another swap where Jenna Perry/"Aloha" had my name - this is swap number 5 that I won't be getting anything - I'm trying really hard not to be frustrated, I put a LOT of work into the notebooks I sent -

and of course her profile is deleted, so can't even rate this scammer

and this week am dealing with some very serious family medical issues - sigh

and if you are reading this, Jenna/Aloha - yes I know you are in MY (collage page) swap, and will NOT be receiving anything until you send something!

MaryB

gramsbuttonbox 03/25/2007 #

Jenna Perry is not in a coma, she just "disappeared" as Jenna and returned as "Aloha" - but same address, same web addy, (just new email) as Jenna Perry - and yes, she's been around awhile, long enough to receive quite a few swaps.

oh well - MaryB

TaraInColorado 03/29/2007 #

I'm sorry, MaryB. Rumors abound and I try to give people the benefit of the doubt, but you're right, getting burned on swaps is no fun--especially when you are a cool partner. My first swap I had a similar experience. But the feeling of being able to give someone just what they wanted is very rewarding for me. There are good people out here on this thing--but you're right, playing "swap roulette" is just...blech.

I remember someone starting a "good karma" "fairy god mother" type swap...where people could sign up and list the instances where they had not received items and we could go and fulfill those unrequited swaps... :) Maybe I will start one...or some such. I will think about it. I love this idea, and I don't want to see it not work because of the failure of "the commons" parable.

take care, Tara

gramsbuttonbox 03/31/2007 #

Thanks, Tara, but I didn't get anything from the other swapper either, even tho she clicked the "sent" button - the swap closed the 10th of March, and it's now almost April, so I think I've waited awhile.

cierra913 - if you ever read this, I sent you messages, but have never heard anything -

and yeah, it's really a bummer when the TWO people who have my name didn't send anything. sigh

MaryB
