Description:

This is a TWO-PART SWAP! Please plan to participate in BOTH swaps or this will not work! Here’s a link to Part 1: http://www.swap-bot.com/swap/show/229900

You can create your journal as soon as you sign up for this swap; no need to wait to receive your partner’s doll. Here’s a link to a cute “flip flop envie book you can make, or you can make or alter a purchased journal. Keep it small so postage doesn’t get too expensive. You only are required to make 10 entries (with photos!). You can certainly make more! http://www.making-mini-scrapbooks.com/envelopebooks.html

Once you have received the Flat “ME” from your partner, take her along with you wherever you go—I took one I got to get a mani-pedi with me (hilarious photo!). Take a walk around your neighborhood, go to school, church, wherever you go—the adventure is seeing a new place! Be sure to take a photo with the Flat doll in it wherever you go, then write a short entry about the adventure. Please make at least 10 entries with images to put in the journal and send back to your partner. Find some fun mementos to put in the journal as well—pretty leaves, tickets to a movie you saw, a menu from your favorite place… whatever! If you go on a trip, take her along! My Flat Me got to go on a private plane to the All Star Game one year! Wish I’d been with her for that!

In order to get rated, you will send your ASSIGNED partner an email with scanned images (or photos) of the journal. You MUST include at least 5 images and journal entries—more if you choose. Write a message in the body of the email about your experience with this swap.

In short: • Take photos of the doll “doing things” with you or others • Write a journal entry about the experience • Include some little mementos (this does NOT need to be something purchased, but could be) • Scan at least 5 photo and journal entries and email them to your ASSIGNED partner; write a message in the body of the email about your experience with this swap • Send the doll and journal back to the owner

Remember to sign up for BOTH swaps. I will ban anyone who is in only one of the swaps.

If you would like your doll to continue traveling, comment below and this can become an on-going swap.

I got a question about how to send a scanned image. First you must scan the images. You need to have a printer that does that, or a separate scanner. Your computer will have a program to do it, or sometimes you can do it from the printer itself. Once you've scanned the images, just make sure you know where it is on your computer and add the file as an attachment. If you find that so many images make it impossible to send, you can send in several emails, or compress the images. On a Mac, you just select the files to be compressed, go under "File" in the Finder and choose "Compress" in the drop-down menu. I don't know how to do it on a PC, but I'm sure there's a way. I hope this helps!

For the pt 1/ I think that the doll belongs to one person. The journal belongs to her partner who receives the doll and takes her on the adventures

for pt 2, we send scans to our partner and return the doll AND the journal to the doll's creator, which means we need that address too.

As the recipient partner in pt 1, I get someone's doll, get my own journal and record the events.

for pt 2, as the recipient partner, I get my doll back PLUS the journal, PLUS scans of the other event.

Is this correct?

Yes. Partt one you make and send your flat me to your assigned partner. She takes it with her, snaps photos with the doll, and puts them in a journal along with some commentary about what she did. She sends the doll and journal back to the person who sent it to her, and sends her new assigned partner an email with a message about the swap and at least 5 images with the doll. Whew! I split it in two so the one who did the most work--the photos and journal--can get rated.

Got it! I asked about this on the other swap, but NM! It's clear to me on the way the swap is set up and I understand. Thanks, so excited for this swap. :)

Yay! Glad you're in!

I am glad for the length of these swaps as I will be most active during the month of October and can get it in the mail on Tuesday November 1 (my usual day of the week to get to the PO).

Note that I've added photos as an option if you don't have a scanner. The main thing is to send evidence that you've done the swap and share it with your partner.

I've extended the deadline to allow us some time after Halloween to finish up. Just in case you and your Flat guest want to have some costume Halloween fun! Not required!

People are getting back their dolls and journals! Remember that while you can't rate the person who made your journal, you can go to their profile and write them a note, or respond via snail mail if you like. Not a requirement, but it's always nice to hear that a swap was received.

You will rate your assigned partner when you receive an email with the images or a link to them showing that they've made the journal and met the requirements.

I know it's a little clumsy, but I couldn't figure out any other way to rate for this part of the swap, and to hold swappers accountable to return the dolls.

Thank you all for joining the swap! I hope you're having fun with it!
