Description:

A talking stick is used in council (or, in my case, Family Meeting). I've used one in my Circle planning meetings as well. They are a useful tool to remind everyone to respect the opinions of the other person.

The person doing the speaking holds the Talking Stick. While that person is speaking, nobody can interrupt. The rest of the council must listen and respect the person talking. When the person is done talking, he passes the stick to another person. (In my family, everyone waits until the speaker is done. Then, they may raise their hands to indicate they want a turn. The person conducting the meeting (usually me) gets to pick who gets the Talking Stick next). It's a very useful tool, when everyone respects it.) I remember one time when my (then) 5 year old daughter was arguing with her sister. The argument was getting heated when Elysia threw up her hands and said, "That's it! I'm getting the Talking Stick!!"

So, this is a kind of complicated swap...
You will be assigned 2 partners.
First, find a stick. Add a couple of decorations to it.
Send it to the FIRST partner.
Rate when you receive this stick.
Now, take the stick you were sent and decorate it a little more.
Send it to your SECOND partner.
Rate when you receive that one.

When you are done, you will have a stick that both your partners have added their own energy to.

So, to recap: You will find a stick, lightly decorate it, and send it to your first partner. Then, you will take the stick you receive from your first partner, decorate it, then send it to your second partner.

Any questions, PM me.

You will send the stick on within a week of receiving it. This is important, and will have to be on your honor. This is important! Do NOT keep the stick for more than a week!

Now, how to decorate it? That part is pretty much up to you. Put a little of your own energy into the stick and decorate it with your own personal touch. You may paint it, add stones, clay figures, feathers, beads, whatever you feel led to add.

Now, for the boring part:
Must have at least 4.9 rating.
Must have at least 4 "Type 3" swaps done and rated.
Must commit to mailing to both partners within a week of receiving a stick.

Deadlines:
Sign-up: October 30
Deadline to Send stick to your first partner: November 6
Deadline to Send the one you received to your second partner: November 23 (That allows for a week and a half delivery time. If you do not receive the second stick by November 16, let me know).

I hope this isn't too complicated. At the end of the swap, you will have decorated 2 sticks and received 1 stick to keep.

Like I said, if there are any questions, please PM me and I'll try to explain it more clearly.

We need to have at least 3 people for this to work. If 3 people don't sign up, I will have to cancel it.

I am interested in this but I don't have family that I speak to all that often and my partner and I are already really good about listening to each other.

I don't know if I'd have time to invest in decorating so many lovely items. Sorry guys
