Description:

For this swap you'll follow Nik the Booksmith's tutorial found HERE to create some eco-printed watercolor paper. She has a follow-up video where she creates a journal from the pages; I'll post that as a different swap down the road.

So . . . you'll need to get a 90# - 140# watercolor paper pad which measures around 9" x 12" OR cut larger sheets down to that measurement. You'll be folding them in half to do your ecoprinting (as shown in her video). You'll also need alum powder (Walmart has it for around $3.50 or a 4 oz container on amazon is $6.55). You don't need the aluminum plates she uses; just wrap your bundle(s) in twine.

You'll send 2 sheets each to 2 partners and keep the rest of the stash you make for yourself--save these to create the journal in a later swap.

This looks a bit time-intensive but her results are beautiful!

Hope you'll join me in trying something new and creating something amazing!

In the follow-up tutorial, she says she prefers the 90# weight paper over the 140#.

I tried this and it does not look like the picture. My results were not as uniform as the video either. also my paper is 7.5x11. Since my paper is too small and I am concerned about the results I am going to post my favorite page or pages to flicker when dry and would love to get comments from others who are doing this. Because of the smaller pages I won't be joining the swap but would like some feedback. Thanks!
