Description:

Newbie friendly! International! Quick Turnaround!

For this swap, you will need to visit your local library, bookstore, or coffee shop. Pick up a handful of free bookmarks. You will need a total of 6 bookmarks, preferably a variety of designs.

Send 2 bookmarks each to your 3 partners. It's that simple! Please pack your bookmarks well enough that they will not get too bent out of shape in transit.

EDITED 01/10/09 Since this one seems to have grown to become a HUGE swap, much larger than I had originally planned, I would like to re-address some of the questions that I have been asked.

Homemade bookmarks are acceptable, but NOT required. If you do choose to make a homemade bookmark, please try your best to creat a quality peice... no regular flimsy paper, please use cardstock or a similar material.

Also, as handmade is NOT required, please do not be offended if you send homenade and receive the standard freebie ad-mark. (I personally will be sending freebies from the library and coffeeshop.)

I have not set a theme for the type of bookmarks to be sent. Please check with your partners before sending items that may offend or be deemed inappropriate.

ANY QUESTIONS, PLEASE PM ME!

I've participated in several freebie bookmark swaps in the past and was just thinking about and wishing for another one, so thanks for hosting this! I love freebie bookmarks!

I work at a library...I feel like I am cheating... but I am excited.

craftygal87 01/ 4/2009 #

Does it have to be from a library....can I make 6 different bookmarks myself?

AndreaJ 01/ 5/2009 #

Can I send author bookmarks that you pick up at booksignings? Can they be adult-rated books?

KJCreations 01/ 6/2009 #

I'm wondering the same thing that terisal777 is. Can we make our bookmarks?

CrayonMom 01/ 7/2009 #

@AndreaJ Wow... I have never seen an "adult-rated" freebie bookmark. At least not at any of the libraries or bookstores I visit.

I myself wouldn't necessarily be offended, if I knew before-hand what to expect. I think it might even be interesting to see something like that. However, not everyone shares my curiosity, I'm sure.

My answer is -- ask your partners. If they don't mind, I don't mind. But please respect thier wishes if they decline.

@terisal777 I had been asked before by another swapper if they could make thier own bookmarks... Originally I said no because I didn't want anyone to feel bad if they spent a lot of time ane effort and only got an ad-mark from Starbuck's in return.

I have since thought about it... I guess homemade bookmarks would be fine as well. As long as you understand that you may not receive something of the same quality as what you sent. Once again, I guess I would have to answer- ask your partners. If it's alright with them, it's alright with me.

OH MY! 25 particicants already?!?! That's the largest swap I've hosted... I'm glad you all joined!

I just wanted to encourage a few of you to work a bit on your profiles. There are several new swappers who have joined with little or no profile information. This swap is simple and does not require swappers to spend too much time on their partners profile, so I will allow it.

However, there are lots of other swaps where it might be helpful for the people who are sending to you to have more specific information about you in order for them to be able to send things you'll like. Also many other hosts will not allow you to join a swap without a full profile.

Please look around, check out some other profiles and feel free to ask any questions.

Anyone have any ideas about how we should we pack the bookmarks to make sure that they don't get bent? If I learn how, I will join.

craftygal87 01/ 7/2009 #

teddykana... Maybe we can send them in a cardboard envelope?

Debimrtn 01/ 7/2009 #

I love to read...so send whatever kind of bookmark you care to send...I think the "homemade" version is great...shows a more personal side.....but adult sounds very interesting....ha....happy swapping!

CrayonMom 01/ 8/2009 #

The easiest way to ship the bookmarks would be to use a piece of cardstock. If you fold a piece of cardstock in half and cut it just smaller than the envelope, you can tuck the bookmarks into the fold. Then seal, address, and mail.

teddykana 01/ 8/2009 #

Oh wow the cardboard/cardstock idea sounds great! Thanks.

minnie12 01/10/2009 #

can we print them?

It has been over two weeks now since the send-date for this swap. I have glanced through the profiles of a few of the participants and noticed that some people did not rate their partners.

If you have received, please make sure your rated your partners. I am trying to determine if we had any problem swappers... I'd hate to assume a swapper did not send, when they did send but didn't get rated.

We had a lot of new swappers in this group and I want to make sure everyone understands the rating system. If you received 2 bookmarks, you should rate a 5. If you have questions about how to rate, please let me know and I would be glad to help you!

If you did not receive your bookmarks, please contact me to discuss rating options and the possibility of receiveing an angel package.
