Welcome to my swap: A word of caution when deciding to join my swaps¦ newbie or veteran

Three words: IMPRESS YOUR PARTNER

I joined swap way back in 2008 to have fun, be creative and above all to receive something from far away that would put a smile on my face. Which means take your time, put a little effort into what your doing, read your swap partners profile for starters (even if it is senders choice, passing along crap is just a no no and the fact that I have to write this is just mind boggling). I am not saying send me a Rolls Royce, but if my profile says I adore cats and you send me dog stuff ((um yeah, the fact that I have to rate a 5 puts me in a tug of war: did you even try?)). I find myself so excited when I receive my partners info that I can't wait to read over their profiles to figure out how to surprise them? My mission is to make you say WOW, she shouldn't have. Isn't that the whole idea? To be surprised, wowed and most of all happy!

I have had some wonderful newbies send me some of the most beautiful and creative packages over the years so I am not one to discriminate on those who are new. Everyone deserves a shot. I wanted to make this my friendly reminder. Lately I have just received too much and in no better way to put it (crap) have had complaints from other swappers How Do I Rate This? It's like they didn't read the rules at all!

So if you are excited about swapping, want to spoil and make your partner say wow: please join!

hello! i really love this swap idea but i was wondering if extras were expected along with this swap! i’m just a little confused as you spoke about receiving items but there wasn’t any mention of it in the rules section. i’d be more than happy to make some art to send along but i was just wondering if that was part of the swap;; thank you!

AmericanHeiress 08/16/2019 #

@Juliasiegert No extras are not expected. I just write that in every swap intro to let swappers know when joining my swaps that I only host high quality, well thought out, take your time and be creative kind of swaps. I don't want crap you throw together and send it off calling it a swap, bc so many of the public swaps have been like this. Not everyone just sends a lists of their answers, some make little books, do it in pocket letters, journals, collage it. Its how ever you interpret presenting your list of answers. As long as its hand written.

I love quetionaire swaps but I'm not joining this one although the questions are mostly fresh enough to be interesting and unlike something I've already been in. You require HANDWRITTEN -- I don't join handwritten swaps (although I think handwriting is disappearing in the schools and that's a shame) --because my handwriting is awful and I love to type and receive typed material from swappers. We are in the 21st century now.

@junemoon when I ask for your opinion I will let you know. I don’t even know why you wasted your time telling the rest of us when your not even joining. I am not here to be graded, I have already graduated from college thanks. Move along.

criggeral 08/17/2019 #

Mandafandaa 08/19/2019 #

Hi! I’m very excited about this! Thanks for having me.

juliewasson 08/21/2019 #

@junemoon a lot of people do not like their own handwriting, me included. As they say “the grass is always greener.” I think whoever received your answers for this particular swap is looking for interesting answers rather than “perfect” handwriting. Just my thoughts.

IDreamOfAfrica 08/23/2019 #

I love my handwriting, it is pretty, loopy, and "flowery". I only create pretty handwritten paper letters. Period. None of my letters are ever typed. My letters are written on pastel ruled paper that is 8.5" x 11.75" big. I always write on both front AND back of each page. The average length of my letters are five pages long. Each letter is written in special colored ink. Each and every page is highly decorated with drawings and stickers of images on the subject I am currently writing about. To complete the letter, I personally decorate the front AND back of the envelope. All of my letters are mailed in 6" x 9" manila clasp #55 envelopes. I love writing letters and if my words matter then I want them to be positive, edifying, joyful, and inspiring.
