We’ve fallen in love with She-Knits Dumpling Bag that made its debut in the Fall 2008 issue of Interweave Knits. What’s not to love? It’s cute, not too big, not too small and it’s a fairly quick knit! This little bag is great for a night on the town or for toting about your latest small knitting project. Half the fun, of course, is embroidering and embellishing the adorable bags.

So pick up a skein or two of your favorite feltable fiber and join us!

This swap will be a private swap restricted to members of Ravelry. Be sure to join the IK Dumpling KAL group on Rav if you haven't already. If you're new to Swap-bot, you must fill out your profile or your name will be removed from the swap before matches are made. If you're a Swap-bot regular, you must have a rating of 4.5 or higher and no no-sends in the last six months. We want happy swappers!!!

Requirements: make one Dumpling bag in colors that will please your partner. Embroider and embellish it to suit what you learn about them from the group questionnaire, which will be posted by 3/2.

You do not need to send any extras, but if you feel the need to spoil your partner, well, who am I to stop you?

Important dates: Sign ups close on 3/8. Matches sent on 3/9. Bags sent by 4/1.

Swap-bot does not make allowances for allergies, special needs, or international shipping. You must be willing to ship internationally as I will not be able to determine who your partner is.

Promise to play nice? Then join the Dumpling fun!!

If you haven't joined the Ravelry IK Dumpling KAL group, run over and do so--there are lots of great posts to help you with your creation of a fabulous bag. I also posted the following questionnaire on the boards there--answering it there is preferable, but you can also put it in the comments here, or on your profile here.

  1. Favorite color?
  2. Dislikes in terms of colors?
  3. Favorite animals? Flowers? Plants? (in other words, what sorts of things do you like that might help your partner decide how to embellish)
  4. Favorite paintings/art work (add a link if possible)?
  5. Examples of designs you like (Sublime Stitching has some cool stuff, for example, or perhaps link to other Dumplings?)
  6. What else do you think will help your partner create a bag you'll love?

Feel free to add additional questions if you think of them--my brain is a little creaky from grading student papers!!

  1. I like blues, greens, yellow, orange, black, grey, brown, but not necessarily all together.

  2. Not a big fan of purple on its own or as a main color.

  3. I tend to try to make things with an aquatic or insecty theme, but avoid the cutesey overly typical animals like butterflies or dolphinsor sea turtles. I have made some fun squid bags (see my ravelry projects for photos), as well as bags with abstract circles, and those have all been fun. Bold plant designs are fun too!

  4. I am drawn to bold prints, like the Lotta Jansdotter prints (great ideas for birds and plants). see: http://jansdotter.com/shop/categ.php?category=5

  5. Love the fun, whimsy patterns on Lusitania's etsy site: http://www.etsy.com/viewlisting.php?listingid=19810958 and bold plant prints on alexandraferguson's "nature collection" etsy page: http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?userid=6788960&sectionid=5926238 and the octopus and coral designs on AshleyPahl's stamped stationary: http://www.etsy.com/viewlisting.php?listingid=21635232 http://www.etsy.com/viewlisting.php?ref=vlother2&listingid=21912235

  6. Surprise me!
