You'll have 1 partner to make their favorite meal for. You must sew the food out of felt. (you can get it at the craft store for around 20 cents. ) Please make good quality food. (this means stuff it and make it 3-d instead of peiced of just felt. When you sign up, make sure to write your favorite food in the comments section. If you are sure about your ability to make felt food, please make a practice piece before signing up. It's rather simple.

This swap is now international! yay!

people with the rating of 4.5 are allowed to join. One no-send only. if you have a recent no-send, we'll be in touch. just write back before the starting date or i'll have to ban you. Newbies are welcome. go ahead and sign up but just pm me or else i'll have to ban you too. I don't want people going hungry out there.

Is there a place to find directions or patterns? Also, are they filled with stuffing or styrofoam to make them 3D?

BettyTurbo 04/19/2007 #

felt food is my FAVORITE thing to make! but i already have a house full of it so i'm not sure what to request... hmmm... i'm thinking on this one...

aya 04/20/2007 #

This is a cool idea. I like desserts and candy (hay, if I can't eat it all the time, at least I can enjoy felt ones). At the moment my favorite non sweet food is diner food - burgers, onion rings, chicken fingers, sendwiches - ya ya, I know I need to start eating more vegetables....

user7744 04/20/2007 #

This is so funny and way too cute! My Dad would say these people have too much time on their hands. LOL!!!!

kittenmeowmeow 04/20/2007 #

they are filled with poly fiber fill. at least, that's what i fill mine with. it's the same stuff that's in your stuffed animals. it's works well and a large bag of it can be found from your craft store which is pretty cheap. the bag will last a long time unless you create really large stuffed animals. <3

kittenmeowmeow 04/20/2007 #

here is a tutorial i found:

http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?PHPSESSID=cb41e6bc2156f2bda876a4f47cd1bbd0&topic=26836.0 most foods can be made with simple shapes.

kittenmeowmeow 04/25/2007 #

Depending on if this goes well... would anyone be willing to take part in this swap again? i know i'm just going to have fun making it.

Cloverst 05/ 1/2007 #

I lost it for a while but I found it now! ta for making it international!

Cloverst 05/17/2007 #

Thought you might like to know your swap is on the first page if you google 'felt food tutorial' on google.co.uk!

kittenmeowmeow 05/19/2007 #

haha. oh yay! that's wonderful~

Robin 05/26/2007 #

Hi.... Just wondering how big a meal are we talking about? Burger, fries and drink? Meatloaf, potatoes and string beans? Tray of assorted sushi? Will there be dessert? Can we request something like cake and candies? How about just assorted fruit?

BettyTurbo 05/28/2007 #

i was thinking some fruit would be lovely. that's my official request.

my impression is that 3 to 4 bigger pieces would be about right, or more like 5 to 6 if it's something smaller like sushi? how do people feel about combining other fabrics with felt? i know the title is "felt food," so i don't want to upset any purists, this is just the latest kick i'm on...

Robin 06/ 2/2007 #

I suppose I would like a bento box of sushi or maybe High Tea (some finger sandwiches and "tea cakes").

Robin 06/ 2/2007 #

Bettyturbo.... I suppose some heavy weight gingham might work well with felt. You would want to keep the same (or very close to it) weight for the items to take proper shape. Might look cute to have some little petit fours, strawberries, any fruit or pastries done in a small gingham. I think if you are to be making hamburgers and fries, or spaghetti dinner, etc., you would want to stick to the felt. Otherwise, the items may not look right. It might be all right to make a few small items (accents) out of a calico fabric. But again, I don't think anyone would want a cheese burger with a calico, gingham or paisley lettuce leaf. Then again..... That light weight fabric might do well for a lettuce leaf. And if it were a green check, it might look cute. I don't know, you might ask the person whom you get for your swap partner.

Cloverst 06/ 4/2007 #

I'm easy ;P

kittenmeowmeow 06/ 6/2007 #

okay.. sorry. i haven't checked up on the page for a while..
betty, i think3-4 bigger peices or 5-6 smaller peices would be okay. and i suppose you can use any fabric you like. check with your partner. i do think for the most part it should be made of felt since it's kinda the traditional fabric to make fake food out of other than plastic. :)

robin, yes! request candies and cakes! i think that you should make enough felt food so if your partner would eat it, they wouldn't be very hungry anymore. does this make sence?

kittenmeowmeow 06/ 6/2007 #

I'd really like some sushi, maki and nigiri. please! any other little candies is up to you.

winemakerssister 06/ 6/2007 #

I'd be happy with a surprise. I don't eat meat, so let's stay away from that (but if you're pining to do a burger & fries, just do a gardenburger & fries...). Other than that, I'm good.

Heather

MoJoMoJo 06/ 6/2007 #

Some sushi and Onigiri would be great, I also love felt cakes and cookies. I'd be happy with pretty much anything though, so yeah..suprise me! :D

user7988 06/ 6/2007 #

girlontherocks 06/ 6/2007 #

user6620 06/ 9/2007 #
