Description:

I’ve been inspired to practice and learn some fun lettering skills to prepare for sending my Halloween cards this year. This swap is open to all skill levels!

For this swap, you’ll send a note in an envelope addressed/decorated with some interesting lettering. If you’re learning, as I am, don’t expect the lettering to be perfect. The practice and learning and trial and error are what this swap is for. If it’s your first time trying it, that’s okay!

Think brush lettering, calligraphy or any kind of artistic lettering. It could even be graffiti or art deco style. Whatever inspires you.

Include some comments about Halloween in your note and at least one small Halloween embellishment on the envelope. For example, a Halloween sticker, themed washi, a themed stamp or a little drawing just as a nod to Halloween.

This swap isn’t about sending a perfectly beautiful envelope but instead about us having the chance to teach ourselves and/or practice any lettering we might have interest in learning more about.

Senders choice! Please rate a 5 if you receive a swap with anything that’s not completely plain lettering along with a note about Halloween. Even if the lettering isn’t your style.

There are lots of great tutorials on YouTube. I have found lots of free downloadable practice sheets online as well. I’m not great but I’m better than I used to be. Find a picture of some lettering you like and look at it as you do your own if that helps.

Everyone is different and you can do it your own way, but for me the biggest improvements came when I started outlining in pencil first and also when I started using a ruler to make sure things are straight, even and centered. Total game changer. Since it’s removable, using washi as straight line guides is my favorite trick.

RECAP — Send: 1) A note with anything about Halloween 2) An envelope addressed in any special lettering style of your choice. 3) Add one Halloween embellishment of your choice to the envelope.

Min 4.98. No recent unexplained 1s or 3s. I will angel. Message me with questions as I don’t always see comments below.
