I got this idea cruising through nervousness.org

The Swap: Swappers will send a package containing 20 items (see list below) which will be used by the receiver to make an ATC (see definition below) which will be sent back to the sender of the package. So the drill is send a package, receive an ATC. Each swapper will have one swap buddy and will have to mail only one package. This means that the sender of the package MUST supply mailing information for the trade to actually work.

ATC: A 2.5" x 3.5" inch card with artist-representative and/or thematic artwork on the front, and the title, artist's information and date on the back. Other information that may be included on the back is the technique used and a number if they are part of an edition.

Material list: The package must have at least 20 items, all of which will be relatively 2-D with no size limit. The materials sent are the only materials that may be used besides scissors, glue, or paintbrushes (no pens, markers, tape, or "any other creative supply of your own": *Three items must be fabric; *Three items must be transparent/tissue paper; *Two items must be actual or copied pages from books, dictionaries, newspapers, etc; *One photograph *One sticker *One relatively thick piece of paper to mount the ATC on *One mandatory item which MUST be used in the ATC and which will be chosen by the sender of the package *Eight more items which could include aluminum foil, wax paper, stamps, string, yarn, tape, feathers, or anything crafty and cool! Please include no more than three of a similar item.

I think this is such a cool idea! :o)

user1024 06/26/2006 #

Are you accepting overseas? If you are then the dates are rather tight!

user1035 06/26/2006 #

The dates are tight even for the us....what about making it two weeks...just to make sure the packages arrive in time

user1447 06/26/2006 #

Would it be easier if all of the dates were moved back? If these dates are good then I'll change them; give some feedback. Swap sign-up ends Friday August 4 Package mailed by Friday August 11 ATC mailed by Friday August 25

hi there, I agree with moving the dates a little. summer is nuts w/ vacations (in my case - OTHER PEOPLE'S! hahaha), etc. so it would be nice to have a little more flexibility.

user1447 06/27/2006 #

THE DATES HAVE BEEN CHANGED!

user1699 06/27/2006 #

My concern regards the vagaries of the Canadian postal system. Last time I mailed something there the PO told me it wouldn't take long to go from the US to CANADA, but once over the border it could take a while to be delivered. Some more room on the time deadlines could help with this. (No offense to our good neighbors to the north intended.)

user1699 06/27/2006 #

Thanks for changing the dates. Could you repost what they are? I seem to be having a mentally challenged day :o{

Hi everyone, just joined the system and signed up for this as my first. Really looking forward to it! So at this point we get our swap partner on 8/4, mail pkg by 8/11 and return ATC mailed by 8/25. Is that right? Am I missing anything? Thanks and Can't wait!

user936 07/16/2006 #

Just checking out this new swap. zac, you mentioned changing dates for ease. Dates look the same as originally stated. Timing is everything. Please advise. Thanks, Maison ~

Great idea! Really looking forward to this.

Since I am very new to ATCs and those that I have made have been painted, I have been eagerly collecting bits and bobs to send for this swap since I joined. Now that the partners have appeared, my parcel is packed and ready to go in tomorrow's (Monday) mail. I am excited to see what is made from my items. I am sure that I will learn heaps.

Thanks for such a great idea for a swap.

user1106 08/10/2006 #

Sent my envie to Nettie today. Can't wait to see what you come up with! :)

user1699 08/11/2006 #

Posted my cool package to Kathleen in NZ. Can't wait to see what she does with it. This has been my most enjoyable swap to prepare, I have to say. --------Laura/Lark2006

user1447 08/12/2006 #

to be mailed on Monday! sorry...

user1106 08/14/2006 #

Got my supplies today. Cool stuff. Can't wait to sit down and create! Thanx!

Zmrzlina 08/16/2006 #

Got my supplies, today! Will sleep on them tonight and tomorrow and hope for great inspiration for creating on Friday :) Some wicked cool stuff in here!

user2064 08/21/2006 #

It is Monday afternoon 21st August. The postie hasn't yet visited with my package of bits to turn into a card yet. I know it is a long way to Australia from most other places (not knowing where the package is coming from). I hoe that it arrives soon so I can get it back on it's way by the weekend.

Iowascrapemouse 08/21/2006 #

Got my package today and have already made my ATC, I can't believe I didn't procrastinate! Thanks Suz for the great STUFF!

bren 08/22/2006 #

Mailed back the finished card today.

user1699 08/24/2006 #

As of today I have received nothing. How will I meet the deadline if I haven't got the materials? Do I then get rated lower because my materials did not arrive in a timely enough manner to return my completed ATC in time? Heavy sigh = {

user1304 08/24/2006 #

Lark, I emailed you back. I hope it clears it up. I need to stop sending things through the post at work; I think our mailboy is snatching things up. :P I'll next day it at the post myself by Friday and you can take as long as you want; in my book you already got a 5 since you actually emailed and let me know that you hadn't received it.

user1304 08/24/2006 #

Oh; I had a question? Should would be sending out leftover materials back with the ATC as well?

Nettie 08/25/2006 #

Rachel, I just want to make sure you got the package of materials. I sent it out awhile ago.

user1699 08/26/2006 #

Kenna, Thanks for going to all the trouble to next day me some materials and allaying my fears of gettting a dreaded "low rating". I will try to be snappy getting a work of art back to you. Meanwhile, a pox on mailboys who interfere with the sanctity of art mail! I appreciate all your assistance. Laura/Lark

Iowascrapemouse 08/28/2006 #

I'm anxiously awaiting my ATC from the materials I sent in....

user2064 08/29/2006 #

It arrived despite all of the machination of the postal service - how can they possibly imagine that crafty ladies are terrorists :-) So many wonderful things, so little skill! I hope that I can rise to the challenge.

bren 08/31/2006 #

Received my ATC today! Thanks Zillah!

Nettie 08/31/2006 #

Zillah, it's on the way! :)

user1699 09/ 5/2006 #

Kenna, Do you have my correct address? I still have received nothing. Lark2006

user1304 09/ 5/2006 #

Lark, I resent the materials Friday. I emailed you about it today, this is the first chance I've had to touch a computer for personal stuff in like a week. Ugh. Next day-ing it was going to cost almost 20 dollars, so I did Priority mail which was 2-3 days.

user1699 09/ 6/2006 #

Kenna, end of drama declared. I GOT MY PACKAGE!! Sorry you had to work so hard. I will be sending a lovely ATC your way as soon as I can. XXXooo, Lark

user1699 09/ 6/2006 #

Kathleen,

you are an angel fairy! My ATC's are beautiful, I just love them. thank you so much. Lark/Laura

AngelFaeryKathleen 09/ 6/2006 #

Hi Taresa Your beautiful ATC arrived yesterday. You used the bits and bobs in ways I had not thought of so it has given me fresh ideas. I gess that what was this swap was about as well all all the beautiful goodie bags. Thank you, I love it and the envie you sent it in.

Iowascrapemouse 09/11/2006 #

Found out my partner I sent my materials in was in a really bad accident. My prayers are with her...

Nettie 09/13/2006 #

My materials have not been returned in the form of an ATC. :(
