Description:

N.B. You don't have to celebrate Christmas to join this swap - all who love cool things in small packages are welcome!

Start with a small (32ct) matchbox, either store-bought or make your own. There's a template by me here, one from the ever-resourceful Mirkwood Designs, and another here from SB's very own @racheljohnson

Then the fun starts! You are going to make an extra-special, extra-tiny stocking filler, for each of your partners. Your matchbox is essentially a gift box, so make sure it isn't completely blank, but it can just be very simply covered: it doesn't have to be anything fancy. Inside the matchbox you should include:

  • a micro zine: length, subject & format is up to you – it just has to fit in the matchbox!
  • a micro treat: this can be bought or handmade, but please try to be thoughtful - take a look at your partner's profile. See below for some suggestions.

The theme of the matchbox doesn't have to be seasonal, it just has to be something fun that will be a nice extra for your partner to open on Christmas Day. You can include more than 1 micro treat in your matchbox, if it will fit, but that is up to you & not required.

Please wrap your matchbox, for your partner to save & open on Christmas Day (therefore don't expect to be rated until then!). If you don't celebrate Christmas, well, I guess it is up to you how soon you open it!

Some suggestions to fit inside your matchbox (remember, make it relevant to your partner):

  • a micro stuffie
  • an inchie
  • a handmade charm
  • a micro-kit to make something mentioned in your micro zine
  • a packet of sewing needles
  • vintage buttons
  • a stitch marker
  • a beautiful glass bead
  • button badges
  • personalised address labels

The micro-treat doesn't have to be craft-related but please only include candy or tea sachets or candles or kawaii stickers etc if your partner's profile suggests they will appreciate it. Think logically. If a profile says they love something, you should be safe to include it. If a profile says they dislike something or they don't mention it at all, don't include it.

3 partners = 3 stocking filler matchboxes to both send and receive.

This is a group swap for members of Zines, mail art & other cool stuff. I've checked people's ratings as they've joined the group, but I will check through again before partners are assigned, to do my best to avoid disappointment in this swap. Please only sign up if you have both the time & inclination to complete the swap!

Finally a good group that actually hosts swaps, and actually hosts a variety of swaps. :]
