About me:

I love books and fairy tales.
I love experimenting with crafts and faux postage.
I love writing zines about the things I love.

My crafting is a constant evolution of ideas, always branching off in random directions.
I love to discover new creative obsessions, but can never predict what will capture my imagination next. Currently, I am mythologising a world. I love to create new things.

Inside my head is a huge tangle of ideas, which seems neverending.
Everything's interconnected, somehow.

About swapping:

I'm not interested in swapping store-bought things:
handmade/handwritten = imperfect, original & far more interesting, in every way.

If you'd like to swap zines or mail art with me, just PM, & maybe we can work out a private swap. Otherwise, check out my group: Zines, mail art & other cool stuff .

Send me a good quality swap & I will be very happy (:-D see?).
Please don't bother with sending extra bits that bear no relation at all to the swap -
they're wasted on me.

I always use recycled paper, & my packaging is usually handmade and/or re-purposed.

Update:

I'm going to be taking a step back from swapping in the New Year (2010)
- lots of projects & people with claims on my time!
But I'll still be around (& of course fulfilling swaps I am signed up to),
so feel free to get in touch. :-)

I like:

rain > frost > mist > autumn > leaves > orange & brown > retro patterns >
swirling paisleys > rich colours > olive & aubergine > moss > heather > earth >
seed pods > dandelion clocks > daisies > simplicity > complexity

...and on a slightly less abstract level, I love anything postal related,
e.g. mailing labels, rubber stamps etc. I generally make my own, but I'm
fascinated by all the variations that exist from country to country, era to era.

A touch of synaesthesia:

Life is colourful; colours have a life of their own.

I like rich, vivid, earthy colours; I like soft, muted, dusty colours.
I dislike garish or pastel colours.

I have an irrational aversion to peach, both colour and scent.
It makes me shudder; I have no idea why.

I have heard blue is supposed to be a calming colour, but I have always found it cold and unsettling. However, I have mellowed in recent years, and now actually quite like blue when it comes in a variant of turquoise/teal, and/or when combined with brown.

A bit more about me:

I'm very fond of quiet space and time to think.
I'm a very grounded, earth-bound person who nonetheless
spends quite a lot of time in a world that's not quite this one.

I am very happy to live with my husband in a permanent state of 'creative disorder'.

Comment: From the earth-tone decorated envelope that I opened incredibly gingerly, to the little notecard of faux postage, this was a very special package indeed. The zine itself (printed on mulberry paper, I noted immediately) was as magical as anyone could have wanted, and my daughter listened wide-eyed as I read her the story of the TangleFolk... the two of us will have to plant those mulberry seeds together under a full moon now!
Response: Oh wow, I'm so happy you enjoyed your tangled little zine. There is more to come from Tangledom & the TangleFolk, so I wil be sure to let you know when the next instalment is ready :-).

Comment: Poor Frog! Great job, though, I love everything in it. The story book is so neat and pretty. How did you make the paper match the fabric? And how did you make the mailing envelope? You're like some kind of paper magician! Thanks so very much! <3<3<3
Response: Oh, I'm so glad it arrived - I was worried about that one! I know, I do feel like I was very mean to Frog, but I'm really happy you enjoyed the package. The paper & fabric match because I drew the design then printed both paper & fabric on my inkjet printer. I can't for the life of me remember how I packaged this one, though!

Response: Ha! - I don't think I could have made a 'normal' sewing kit if I'd tried! But I'm very glad you like it :-)

Comment: Thank you for the zine bomb kit. I'm kinda afraid to open the matchbox. Small things tend to go AWOL in my hands!
Response: Yes, the box doesn't really explode, I promise! Glad it reached you safely. :-)
