While we encourage eating with the seasons there are staples in the kitchen as well. So this swap series will be about sharing recipes along a particular ingredient!

And the ingredient is: GRAINS

Nutty, chewy, crunchy even sweet, whole grains are the carbohydrate fuel for our bodies. It's inclusion in dishes raise the fiber levels and some believe help heart function and reduce cancer risks. We should all eat more whole grains.

Hopefully, we will find new ways to use grains. So send in you favorite, most creative, even unusual recipes!

Lets all share at least 3 recipes with 3 Partners! This will be international, email and tree friendly:D

Hi, I am new here. Just to clarify what we are meant to swap: can you give me some examples of grains so I can make sure I understood it right? Thanks Anna

To me this swap means that the recipes should feature something like qunioa, wheat or spelt berries, barley, rice, etc.

I've signed up for this, sounds like fun and pretty easy (email). I'd really prefer to receive vegan recipes. Ones where it is easy to leave cheese off are OK, but anything really featuring eggs will require a major re-write for me.

Let me clarify a few points.

Grains - the food group. Noodles, Breads, Granola, Cereals even Baked Goods could qualify. Anything created from grains.

This is senders choice. Three recipes sent to three people. They will be sharing their recipes with you. That means your preferences or circumstances may or may not coincide with theirs.

The original intent of Vegetarian Kitchen was to encourage more people to try a more vegetable based diet, and to welcome those changing to a healthful or medically determined diet. Some people in this group may not even know what vegan, gluten free or low glycemic means. And that is ok, they are here to learn more about healthy food. That is what these types of swaps are for, share your diet and recipes with others, so others become aware of different dietary options/ requirements.
