About Me

I reuse shipping materials! Save the planet!

If you would like patterns or completed projects from my web page, I would be happy to do private trades, just pm me.

I love to learn new things. I need to create.

I am the mother of a beautiful, artistic 20 year old daughter. Wife of a fellow artist/crafter. I am owned by one spice finch, three Society finches two JRT's, three Siamese, and one Oriental Shorthair. Yes we have a rather large family!

I prefer to spend my weekends at the dog park, hiking, at flea markets (Rodger's Ohio ROCKS!), local farmers markets, gardening, thrifting or any other activity that allows me to be outside or looking for treasures!

My idea of treasures is skewed, well according to my daughter. Things I like to find; Old scientific stuff - scales, tubes, beakers, lenses, glass slides, etc; watch parts; tea related items - creamers, pots, cups & saucers, cozies, non - terry tea towels, trivets: unusual cookie, cake or candy forms; Tatting related items; vintage fabrics; heirloom local vegetables and fruits, yum; old papers/ letters/tickets/ receipts/ cards, calling cards etc, cool things to create with. Knitting- love natural fibers, I love lace weight yarns to chunky wools, I have a few physical issues and prefer wooden or bamboo knitting needles ( much warmer/kinder on achy or arthritic hands).

Favorite Music / Books / Movie

Favorite Music; I enjoy all types of music. My favorite genre, my daughter calls angry chick music. What can I say I like women singers who belt out what they feel:D Fav' s list; Shiny Toy Guns, Paramore, Katy Perry, Garbage, Pink, Kidney Thieves. Some others; Flobots, Korn, Godsmack.

Favorite Books; All, seriously. I read the cereal box if that is all I can get my hands on! I love non-fiction. The quest for knowledge is never satiated. Some fiction favorites;Wheel of Time, American Gods, Harry Potter, Twilight, Little Women, Pride and Prejudice.

Favorite Movies; Hmmm, off the top of my head; Night Breed, Pretty in Pink, Accepted, V for Vendetta, Practical Magic, Pirates of the Caribbean, Count of Monte Cristo. Indian - Jodha Akbar.

Favorite Television; Iron Chef JAPAN, Firefly, House, Chef Ramsey anything:D, Doctor Who, Lost, Top Chef, Bones, Project Runway, anything educational or historic, as my husband says "the history of dirt"

Favorite Crafts

I teach Zakka - Japanese Handcrafts at the local college. I have a Zakka group here on Swap bot. I like to paint, draw, sew, make jewelry, pretty much haven't met a craft I don't enjoy.

I am really excited to start some new crafts! Victorian Calling Cards, Steampunk, Spencerian Penmanship, a whole new world of odd crafts:D

Likes / Dislikes

Likes;

I am mostly vegetarian, I know some people don't think this to be a correct statement. I do eat eggs and milk and other dairy. I occasionally eat seafood and rarely meat, but try not to. It is too expensive, both in cost and drain on resources/environment.

Lovely European Dark Chocolate :D

I prefer seasonal motifs to holiday ones please (i.e. snowflakes/holly/pinetrees not santa (unless German or Victorian father Christmas type:D) , eggs or flowers not crosses or biblical (I am not christian), etc)

Favorite Scents: pear, ginger, lavender, melon

Favorite Flavors: mint, chocolate, vanilla bean, melon, strawberry
