Description:

As I walk along the street I'm always picking up the most beautiful leaves and taking them home to press.

This is going to be a fun swap. Search out some of your favorite leaves and press them. Then after a night in a book, you can pack them into an envelope and send them off to your partner. Easy, simple, and fun.

1) Must have a total of 3 leaves to send. You can send as many as you want though.

2) Please choose 3 different types of leaves or if they are from the same tree make sure they're each interesting.

Pressing leaves is simple. If you find one on a tree you want pluck it and let it dry over an hour or so then press it between paper and stack some books on it. If you find it on the ground and it's still flexible, go ahead and press it as well. Once they get crunchy you can't press a leaf without it crumbling.

I would love to join, but I think you would be better off leaving some time to press the leaves! I'm not sure that I have 3 leaves :(

dynasourX, I should send you some of mine - I have 10 million maple leaves on the ground in my yard!

Another thing - if a leaf is dry you can soak it in water and it will get soft again so you can press it.

I would SO love to join this swap, but I live in SE Texas and all my leaves are green or brown, there is no colored leaves. That is something I dearly miss from Home {Michigan}. Such a wonderful idea for a swap though.

Dear Sarah,

I like your idea very much, in Holland we've got a real Indian summer this year and all those beautiful red leaves, so nice. And I've got some in a newspaper, under the 'Atlas of the world' already.

Check this out for a creative little memory-game with leaves: http://www.5orangepotatoes.com/blog/2009/11/16/odd-leaf-out-card-game-using-pressed-leaves/#utmsource=feed&utmmedium=feed&utm_campaign=feed

I extended the sent date to Dec 6th.

Lisapotterylady, I never knew that. Thanks for the info!

Serenity, green and brown leaves can be interesting and beautiful in their own way!

Motmugje, I love that idea for the memory game. And I'd love to laminate leaves, but I have no way to do that. I've already got a few pressed around my dorm room as well. :)

I'd love to join but I can't really find any special-looking leaves from where I am =( I'm from a tropical country!

I'll do a pressed flower swap soon as well. Maybe you can join that one?
