Description:

This is my first time hosting a swap, I know I only have a few completed, but more are out there traveling to peoples houses right now!! For this swap, you will create one paperback notebook for one partner, seeing as paperbacks are MUCH easier to bind than hardcovers creating a notebook should be fairly simple, here are the rules:

  • You MUST put some effort into it, don't just staple sheets together and call it done. Punch decorative holes, use ribbon, paint, glitter, any medium to decorate it, or you can keep the cover clean, as long as it's made with LOVE and the cover is strong!! (sturdy card stock preferable)

  • Must measure at least 6.5"X4.5". That's a pretty standard size, shipping shouldn't be too bad on that.

  • Please try to mail your packages on time, I know stuff gets in the way, so send your book as soon as possible if you have to.

-I will ban anyone who looks fishy, have your likes and dislikes written out on your profile, and check you partners likes and dislikes. If they don't like glitter, don't smear it all over the front of their book that you just made =)

You can use any kind of binding style you want, have fun with it!! Newbies are definitely allowed, I still pretty much am one!! Must have a rating of at least 4.5, I will be checking profiles for recent ones or threes, you will need to explain them if I find any. I WILL angel this swap, you can feel safe on this one :))

Happy B-Binding!!! If you need some help with this, here's a good site:

You can also find plenty of tutorials on Google, they are there.

This doesn't have to be some crazy amazing notebook, it's all for fun!! So have fun!!!

how many pages thick do you want this to be?

If you have access to a Dremel toop, or a drill press, you can dril with a fine bit through a whole stack of paper at once. If you place a piece of 1/4" plywood on the top and bottom, and mark your holes, clamp it all together (wrap with strong rubber bands) then drill--the plywood will become a jig for making future similar books--just use the same holes. I use one for drilling holes in cds for making books, or wiring them together in other things--it keeps the drill from tearing holes in the bottom of the paper stakcs, and from shattering the cds.

Oops! I meant Dremel tool sorry!

How does 75-90 sound for standard cartridge? @twobluecrows Might give that idea a whirl, my hands were starting to get sore... ^_^

I'm gonna change the min amount of pages to 40, 75 seems a bit excessive for a first notebook, I know it was for me :p feel free to make it as many pages as you want though!!

can they have a spiral binding? I have made these for friends over the years using paperback book covers, CD covers, etc.. with recycled paper 'filling'. Would this style be acceptable or are you going for a specific look/result? I add embellishments if they go well with the theme/ design but not always. I would be willing to make my partner more than one notebook :)

I was looking forward to this swap, but I have to drop suddenly--I'm glad the host didn't assign partners yet! I hope she gets around to it soon for the rest of you all--have fun!
