Description:

International swap, because cancer is global. Newbies allowed, with completed profiles; I will be checking. No one with less that 4.25, I'll be checking that too. If your score is lower contact me, we'll talk. This is an emotional subject, everyone deserves to get their package. If you're willing to angel please contact me.

Cancer is among the leading causes of death worldwide. Everyone has been touched by it - you, your loved ones, or just by living in a culture that's been diminished by the premature loss of artists, writers and other good people.

For this swap you will assemble a package that will remind your partner that we each can make a difference fighting this disease, by action, by remembering those we've lost, by living our lives out loud. Your package will include:

  1. Two handmade anti-cancer items OR one store-bought item worth at least $5.

  2. A letter telling your story - why you care about this and what you're willing to do to fight it.

  3. OPTIONAL: Make a $5 donation in your partner's honor to an anti-cancer organization. Some good organizations include:

American Cancer Society www.cancer.org

Susan G. Komen for the Cure www.komen.org

Lance Armstrong Foundation www.livestrong.org

Pan Mass Challenge www.pmc.org

Alex's Lemonade Stand www.alexslemonade.org

International Union Against Cancer www.iucc.org

There are many worthwhile organizations, these are just a few that are legitimate. If you have a preference for a donation organization please note it below.

ONE MORE OPTIONAL: Look at your partner's profile and send them something you think they'll love. This swap is about getting more positive energy into the world, so send them something that will make them smile and give you a heart!

Remember, this is a positive energy swap. Send your partners items that will make them want to go out and fight!

Thanks!

I am so glad to see this swap! My boyfriend's mother is fighting for her life right now (lung cancer that has spread to her liver) and I have been trying to think of how to channel all of the emotions we have been experiencing lately into a swap or something creative.

To my partner: I am a very religious/spiritual person (as is she), so feel free to incorporate this aspect into the swap. I would very much like to share this swap with her to the extent to which I can. As for any charity donations, any of the above would be wonderful or the Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Boston.

I'm so glad people are joining this swap. To my partner: if you choose to make a donation please send it to the Pan Mass Challenge via my participation. Go to www.pmc.org and search for my last name under rider profiles. All the money goes to the Dana Farber Cancer Center. Thanks!

how can i not join? this is a really emotional subject for me as i lost my mom to leukemia last year, my boyfriend's mom fought so hard to survive breast cancer, and my nephew of 17 years old had a brain tumor! now i do what i can to help and fight cancer and that's why every 6 months i help collect money for the cancer research foundation in the netherlands. i will donate money to that centre on my partner's behalf as well.
