Description:

A disposable camera adventure for those who love photographic irreverence and a good challenge!

Materials required: One disposable camera & a bubble mailer/small box.

Theme: Here & there (see below)

Your task:

FIRST==>Shooting in two different places (one of which is your usual "stomping grounds" or home), take a minimum of 20 photos. The photos can be of anything at all (except friends & family or tourist photos that have little interest to others). All themes and styles of photography are welcome-- artistic, wacky, wonderful, irreverent, satirical, beautiful or inventive photos.

Please send thoughtful shots and allow a little time to complete this swap. (You can read your partner's profile for a sense of their interests and photographic likes but this is completely sender's choice!)

SECOND==>Mail the camera to your partner with a note about the locations you chose and your photos/experience/ideas etc. A shot list is wonderful, but not required. Feel free to be creative with this!

THIRD-==> Develop and enjoy the "crappy camera" photos you receive!

PRETTY PLEASE==> Please, please share some/all of the resultant photos (prints or digital files) with the person who took them and sent the camera to you. I'm sure everyone would love to see how their shots came out! (This cannot be required/rated but you can always leave a note of thanks on your partner's profile if they send back some of the photos you took.) I'm hoping everyone will do this!

A few notes...

Expect the unexpected! Do understand the disposables are unpredictable and many shots may not come out. I want folks to feel free to experiment with the camera and theme rather than to just take safe shots.

Please rate as part of the swap and give a 5 if they took at least 20 photos in two different locales and sent along the camera/note on time. (You can offer feedback on the photos themselves and the efforts taken in the comment.) And of course just let me know if you have any problems, concerns or questions regarding sending or receiving....

If you are mailing internationally it is recommended but not required that you choose 400 ASA or lower film as it is less likely to be harmed/fogged by customs use of xray.

There are several weeks to find your camera & take your photos so you can carry your camera about and try to capture some great shots for your partner. Please plan to spend some time on this. It's not a good project to do the day before it's due! WOW your partner with your shots!

Any disposable cam is welcome but know that you don't have to simply go to the corner store. There are also Black and White, Lomography Lomolitos (color flash) or underwater disposables on the market etc. and you can also be experimental in how you take the photos (i.e. vaseline on the lens etc). Feel free to use the comments section to list links, resources, ideas and info. if you know of cool disposables or techniques!

A reminder! Please note that there is some expense to this swap including the cost of the disposable, mailing, developing the analog camera you receive and (hopefully) sharing some of those photos with the person who took them.

Requirement to participate: Please have at least 10 completed/rated swaps and an impeccable swap record. (I will check profiles and cancel enrollments if needed when sign ups close.) PM before the sign up deadline if you have questions or have been rated unfairly. No flaking folks!

Can you give me some ideas of what would be photographed? I'm just a little confused on the subject matter, what would be irreverent or satirical?
I'd love to join, as this sounds super fun, but don't want to disappoint anyone with my pictures, if I don't take the right kind!

How lovely, I can photograph my move from Louisiana to New Mexico and send on time!!

I'd love to join this swap - but I think it's quite hard to make really good photos with disposable cameras - last time i tried to do that they only were good when i used a flashlight (okey, it was winter - so maybe it was just a bit too dark!) i already joined swaps like this several times and i always got flaked. :/ i think i may just find the swap requirements a bit too high, i'm afraid i cannot stick to all of them. What a pity!

I am seriously considering joining this swap. The only thing holding me back is how much I love seeing my own photos. I really hope that whoever receives my camera e-mails me a folder with the digital copies.

I just recieved my camera from the 1st swap and I can't wait to see what they are like.

I don't quite understand what we are photographing for this swap though - can you clarify?

You can photograph anything at all--irreverent, satirical, edgy, fine art etc. is all welcome. The only requirement is that you shoot your photos in at least in two different places.

I cannot require that people send your photos back to you but I strongly encourage everyone to do so and I think it's fine to enclose a note asking for digital/print copies (their choice) if you offer to cover the extra cost. (For each disposable swap I change it up a bit so for the next one--#3-- I will center it around developing your own camera.)

Does that help?

Thank you!

It's too bad no one else is participating!!
