Description:

I recently participated in a CD swap where I was partnered with someone from France, and she included many French songs on the CD. It was fun to listen to something that I didn't understand all the words to, and I just love other languages and new music!

I thought that lots of music lovers probably have some tracks that are either all in a foreign language or contain some words in a language different from the rest of the song.

Two partners, one CD to each, international, 4.5 rating or higher, newbies welcome with completed profile and message to me. One thing that would be important to note is that swappers should check their partners' profiles to make sure they have some music/languages that are foreign to their partners. Obviously, if you live in Russia, English is technically a foreign language, but it wouldn't be all that much fun for an American to receive a disc of songs all in English. Or a Russian person to receive a CD of all Russian songs! Our motto for this swap should be "Variety is the spice of life." Not all one artist or all one language. Cool? Message me with questions.

Note: I took it for granted that swappers would include at least the song title and artist in a list for the CD. The album the song originally came from is, to my mind, not necessary. but please do include track info like the title and artist.

When I first saw this, all I could think of was The Exorcist.

:)

I speak English and Chinese and I've always listened to songs other than these two languages.

Count me in!

My native tongue is Turkish and I speak English and a little bit French. I would appreciate songs in other languages. (In fact French is OK. But i don't want songs in English.)

is an mp-3 format okay? or no?

Lethalblonde 08/26/2007 #

Slamophile, do you mean MP3s on a CD, or do you mean sending the songs over the interent rather than sending a physical CD? If the question is whether physical CDs definitely need to be sent, I would say yes.

slamophile 08/26/2007 #

Yes, I meant physical cds. I once burned a cd for a swap pal, and, they couldn't play it, because, I had burned it as an mp3 format.. And, apparently, she didn't have a player that supported that. So, that's why I was asking. Thank you!

I would really like to have with the CD, a list noting the name of each song, the artist for each, and the title of the Album each song came from.

ATTENTION

can the swapper write their preferences?

I mean:

  • do you want an audio cd that can be played by the Cd players or something like that?

or

  • do you want your CDs containing songs in mp3 format?
GoodVibrations 08/31/2007 #

I would like to receive an mp3 CD.

Lethalblonde 08/31/2007 #

I've personally never had an issue with music files of any type; I've never received a CD that I wasn't able to play. I guess I took it for granted that MP3 was a standard format for music files.

I'd wish not to get mp3s. I can listen them on my computer, but I mostly listen music in car, and our cars cd-player doesn't understand mp3s.

I love it! I was in a foreign languages swap a month or two ago. It was fun to put the CD together. I love listening to music from other countries, but I never know where to start. I'm looking forward to another foreign language swap!

mp3 format is fine for me. I'd love music in any language other than English, you can check my profile for ideas :) I'm so excited for this swap, because I get new music twice: once while looking to make the cds for my partners, and then again when receiving! So fun :)

orcasong 09/ 4/2007 #

My native language is English, but I also lived in Arizona near Mexico, so I've heard plenty of music in Spanish, too. So, please nothing English or Spanish.

Either format is fine by me - whatever is easiest to put together. If they are both just as easy - go for the mp3 format.

I have so much music in other languages! I'm looking forward to this.

I'm Israeli. My first language is, ofcourse, hebrew, but I also listen to a lot of music in English, so I prefer other languages... Thanks! :)

I speak English. I have music in Russian, Finnish, Japanese, and some other languages. The music I have is all kinds so don't be afraid if you get some metal with your j-pop. I only use iTunes so I cannot burn CDs as MP3s...as far as I know. Do not send me discs in MP3 format. Thank you!
