Description:

This is not just any candy swap, this is a unique candy swap! That means we aren't swapping common things that we can just pick up in the candy aisle at the grocery store. Let's try some new flavors that we have never encountered!

If you are sending to someone in a different country, send them something that they probably haven't tried before. Maybe you have a local favorite candy that is common where you live but is probably nothing that your partner has tried. Many things that we would send to another country would be new to the recipient but we should try to send stuff other than a typical chocolate bar. Or as an example I have encountered: I once got a gummy that was shaped like corn and I thought it was lemon flavored. It actually tasted like corn and that was completely unexpected, though I probably should have guessed because obviously it was shaped like corn! Or maybe you find candy with an ingredient that isn't typical of candy you would find in an everyday grocery check out line. Ethnic food aisles are also a good place to look for unusual candy.

You will have one partner and you will send a package full of unique candy valued between $10-$15 before shipping.

Because of the nature of the swap there's a chance that you might receive candy that you don't like. It wouldn't be very fair if you rated somebody poorly because you got something that you didn't like the taste of. The idea behind this swap is to try new things and even if you find that you didn't like it wasn't that EXCITING? Of course if you have allergies or dietary restrictions it would be important to let your swap partner know!

And here are the official rules:

-I reserve the right to ban anybody who seems shifty and flakey.

-Must have a 4.8 or higher rating. However, I will listen to reasons for a lower rating on a case by case basis.

-Newbies welcome with a filled out profile, not just a couple sparse lines.

Have fun!!!

is this international? or US/Canada only?

rainydaygirl 09/19/2007 #

sorry, guess I need to open my eyes. :)

Please please PLEASE....if you are assigned to me and your country has salty licorice (anise), pretty please send me some! I'm addicted and can't get any here LOL Anyway, this is a GREAT idea for a swap...I'm really looking forward to it!

Just a note for my swap partner: Though I am vegetarian and normally do not eat things containing gelatin, please feel free to send them if you like, because my partner, who is not vegetarian, will love them.

Kessie 09/20/2007 #

I'm a vegetarian too, so I can't eat things with gelatine in them either. But if you send something I can't eat, I'm sure I have friends or work colleagues who can eat it instead!

I'm trying to think of ways to pimp my swap so we can get a large assortment of people from all different countries participating!

ScarlettNicole 09/23/2007 #

I'm allergic to peanuts so I can't have any :( However, if there are some in the item you'd like to send just let me know and I'll offer it to my sister instead :)

The only thing i dont want is some kind of candy with bugs/animals... One day i saw in tv a documentary about chocolates and saw that in US exists a shop that make some lollypops with real bees, scorpions, flies, etc inside them.

PLEASE DONT SEND ME THIS STUFF. I JUST HATE BUGS lol YOU CAN SEND ME ANYTHING UNLESS THIS BUGS STUFF :O)

stephaniedavies 10/ 2/2007 #

You can send me bug stuff, I think it would be cool :D

pointypartyhat 10/ 3/2007 #

I know where I can get salty licorice!

GnomedePlume 10/ 3/2007 #

I'm lactose intolerant, so no milk chocolate if you can avoid it (though my roommate and coworkers will chip in and eat some if they HAVE to).

im afraid im going to drop the swap :( maybe if it goes really well, someday you'll start anotheer? :) x

SewFun 10/ 4/2007 #

I've found some very odd stuff already! Though we tried it here and even my girls like them! :) Cant' wait to see what else I can find!

pointypartyhat 10/ 5/2007 #

I'm glad that other people are as enthusiastic about this as I am!

Arylkin 10/ 6/2007 #

What a cool swap idea!!

For my partner- I don't drink milk, so please no milk chocolate for me! Also, I detest black licorice (yuck)! ;)

Emmuzka 10/ 7/2007 #

No sugar gum for me, please, Xylitol was actually invented in the country where I live (Finland) and in here no-one eats sugar gum. We have some really exotic candies, here, though ;) As for me, any American or Japanise non-international candy is exotic. Like, snickers bar - not exotic, Reese's peanut butter cup -exotic. I'm easy!

SewFun 10/ 7/2007 #

I'm thinking I might have to drop. I've been swapping so much my postage bill is sky high. I'm hoping I can make this one work, I love odd candy!

It's the possible international shipping, some countries can be killer on postage costs.

Keep your fingers crossed!

Love all kinds of unusual candies. The stranger the better.

My package is going by ground from Canada to Sirah in Finland. I'm sorry I had to send it by the slowest way, but air was going to cost me twice as much.

I can't seem to upload pictures to Swap-Bot, but if anyone wants to see what I sent to my partner, the picture is here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/7337384@N03/1830845155/
