Description:

International Tea Swap is my favorite swap. My daughter (who introduced me to the swap-bot) and I have been having quality tea time together almost every day with special teas from all over the world.

Basically this is a simple tea swap: you send four different tea bags to three people. A little difference is, read their profiles and send something (nice note, a cute sticker, little candies and etc.) to make that person's day a little brighter. Monetary value is not important. The criteria is something from your heart to make your partners happy.

I understand giving hearts are receiver's discretion. However, if the package you received is more than basic, please keep it in mind that receiving heart means a lot to many people.

IF your package is less than that and/or you are flaked please IM me. I'll angel you. I don't want anyone to be disappointed in this swap.

Both my daughter and I were flaked on recently and it was very disheartening and she was SO sad :(. So, I will accept people with only 5 ratings. If you are a newbie or had an unfair rating in the past and your rating is less than 5, please IM me first.

I'm planning to do this swap once a month. So, Tea & Hearts lovers, please join me!!

Since it seems you have sent a lot of these international tea swaps, how much, on average, is the international postage? I know it depends on where you're actually mailing to.. but an average please? This sounds like something I'd love to join, but I don't want to sign up before knowing for sure that I can commit to the postage cost. Thanks so much!

Hi Sillyna511,

Mmmmm.... I'm so sorry but once I pay for something, I totally forget how much I spent. All I remember is the postages were pretty reasonable for tea bags since they are very light. (I think it's my selective memory loss to survive. lol)

So here's the link you can check. Shipping cost from US to around the world:

Hope you will join us! Paula

I've recieved tea swaps from the US that had stamp values of 68c and 98c, so it's not too expensive (in my opinion...) From Sweden to any other land it costs 12 sek ~ almost 2 dollars, so it varies a lot between countries...

How can I resist such a sweet invite and a perfect swap. Happy to join!

Evka 02/25/2011 #

Thank you for an invitation, I would be very happy to join... by the way, I payed in my latest tea swap from Czech to Romania 68 czech crones = 3US dollars and Romania is pretty close to Czech :)))

This sounds lovely! Swapping edibles on Swapbot has turned out to be my favorite thing! While I love all kinds of tea, I prefer black tea, dessert type flavors and blends. No plain green, or herbal. I like to add milk to mine! Also, I love loose leaf too, if you want to share, and while it's not required, I also LOVE coffee and other drink packets! :D

I'd love to join in but took a huge gulp when sending just one gorgeous teabag to the US (from the UK) cost me £1.79 - around $2.90 ... love the whole concept 'tho as I am an avid tea-drinker! x

Aminomama 02/26/2011 #

Hi everyone, Thank you so much for joining, PMs and great comments on this board. It's #9 swap!!! YEAH!!!

Annn 02/26/2011 #

I would like to participate but the other day I sent a small package to the U.S. and pay $ 3000 = 6us bone would be 19us, much to me in is now u.u

kittenred 02/26/2011 #

i usually find for this kind of thing, UK to Europe will cost around 70 - 80pence, and UK to US will be nearer to 90p - £1.20 (£1 = $1.50)

would also suggest that - if you're including a letter for your partner, write it in a note card, or keep it under 2 sheets of paper (both sides) otherwise the thickness of the letter will add to the weight of it. - a hard backed envelope may weigh less than a bubble wrap lined (can also use small piece of thin cardboard to re-enforce envelopes) - check the customs of country you're sending to, most are happy for individually wrapped tea (where you can tell its factory sealed) as other things could be hidden in loose tea, but have heard Australian air mail don't like any kind of tea being sent over.

okay new to the swap!! how to I pick my 3 people to get my gifts? Please help . thanks

LadyDragon 02/27/2011 #

I mainly get loose tea - is there any way to "create" a tea bag?

Aminomama 02/27/2011 #

Yes. There's item called "Ocha Pack". It kind of looks like pocket size kleenex tissue pack on the outside. It's an individual cloth-like fabric pocket that you can fill about 1/3-1/2 of the way with tea, then flip the flaps to seal in the loose tea. I bought it at nearby Japanese store.

It's very convenient since majority of quality teas come in bulk packages in Japan. We have special tea pots with strainers however, this pack make it easier for single use.

Hope this will help.

PS IF you are planning to send loose tea with this swap, please make sure to enclose a copy of the original package/tin and masure tea is securely contained in a package.

Aminomama 02/27/2011 #

To thealteredpage: At the end of the sign up date, swap-bot computer will choose automatically who you should send your stuffs to and who would send you stuffs. So don't worry!

Aminomama 02/27/2011 #

Ooops! I meant "make sure tea is securely contained in a package".

Jester777 02/28/2011 #

For loose leaf you can make or buy tea filters, like HERE

Jester777 02/28/2011 #

Or HERE You can put as much loose leaf as you like, they're great! Then just toss in your compost when you're done.

Obstminkerl 02/28/2011 #

so sad, but I have to drop this time :o(

rosiefsw 02/28/2011 #

I was tempted by this swap. However, here in the UK tea doesn't normally come in individually wrapped packets (except for herb and fruit tea). The instructions seem to say that a teabag not factory wrapped is not OK, except if you use loose tea and put it in a tea filter yourself (so it still isn't factory wrapped). Have I understood correctly?

Aminomama 02/28/2011 #

I don't remember specifying anything myself.... well, sorry, I didn't even think about it. In Japan, better tea usually comes as bulk. So I totally understand you. As long as it's individually wrapped well and if you can put a copy of the original packaging, I see any reasons to oppose it however, it will be nice if you can make sure your partner is OK with it.

Goldii 03/ 3/2011 #
