Description:

This swap is designed to be fun & to channel the kid in all of us! It is also designed to appeal to all of our group members ... those who are not-so-crafty can certainly sign up, and those that like to get artsy can certainly choose to do so here as well.

This swap is inspired by the classic children's book Harold & the Purple Crayon. For your project you can use any color, not just purple, as long as it's a crayon to color something for your partner.

You might color something from a store-bought coloring book, you might find an image to color off the Internet, you might hand draw something for your partner on a blank page ... whatever works for you.

Minimum size of item will be 5 x 7, we won't set a maximum since most people will be limited by shipping costs ... but if someone sends a mural or something please post a picture!

Send your item in an envelope that has at least one crayon mark of decoration on the outside so your partner will know this is the crayon swap -- of course, more crayon decoration on the envie is encouraged, but not required. Feel free to fold your item in there, this is not an art swap so much as a fun swap!

If you have questions please let me know and I will answer them ASAP. Hopefully we will not have any flakers, but if we do I will angel or arrange for an angel if you contact me after you rate your 1.

Awwww. This reminds me of how exciting it used to be when you got to get a brand new box of Crayola crayons! Especially the 64 pack with the sharpener.

Oh the brand new box of Crayolas was the best! Someone brought me one when I was in the hospital a couple years ago and it was the best present ... I still use them all the time on envies, mail art, etc.

Coloring is very soothing. It always makes me think of Ramona Quimby and her father and that long, endless sheet of white butcher paper. :)

Coloring is very soothing. And though it's not quite the same, it always makes me think of Ramona Quimby and her father and that long, endless sheet of white butcher paper. :)

I love the smell of crayons. :)

Shouldnt this be a type 3 package/craft?

Onyx 05/ 6/2011 #

After re-reading the swap descriptions, I still think this is a Type 2 swap as I really did not want this to be a "time intensive" or "craft intensive" swap ... there was a call for non-crafty swaps in the HAW and this was a response to that call, and just a reason to let go and HAVE FUN. One should not take this too seriously! I imagine you could easily knock this out in 20-30 minutes or so (and that includes the time to select your picture). If you want to spend more time, or you want to hand draw your picture, please do ... this swap is all about relaxing with crayons and enjoying what is fun to YOU.
