Description:

This will be a two part swap.

You will make two postcards, one goes to your partner, the other goes to the Postmarked 2011 Prison Library Project.

You can read more about Postmarked 2011 here: http://postmarked2011.blogspot.com/

I've done this for a couple years and it's a lot of fun for a good cause. I've already donated a couple postcards so far, which you can see on their blog.

You should mail your second postcard to:

Postmarked 2011

Prison Library Project

112 Harvard #303

Claremont, CA 91711

Deadline is May 31, 2011

Remember that only the address side is going to be scanned on the website so you want to focus on that side, but I encourage you to also make an effort on the reverse. I put poetry on the reverse of the one I already sent which I thought was fitting for a library project.

Your image should be either printmaking or hand illustrated, it's really open to you. But just make something nice that you would like to receive and hopefully someone will bid on in the Postmarked auction and get some books donated.

Just to clarify, the postcard does not go directly to a prison, but rather to a group that organizes the mail art auction and then donates the proceeds. Also you don't have to use your name and address on the postcard if you aren't comfortable doing that. The address side of the postcard will get posted to their website.

Let me know if you have any questions!

This is a fantastic idea for a swap! I hope you'll have more of these in the future. Is there a max or min size for the postcard? I couldn't find anything about it on their site. Thanks!

I think it's any thing that the post office will take.

Don't forget postage rates have changed. postcards are now 29 cents.

Didn't know that! Thanks!
