Description:

I really like lots of color themed swaps and since I love to sew too, I thought why not make it a quilter's fat quarter color swap. I see a lot of swaps for yarn out there and also just for colors, but none for those cute little fat quarters we all see at the material shops. You can use them to make quilts, hats, purses, doll clothes, or anything that takes about 1/4 yd of material. We are on swap #5 and it will be Red this time, since it is the Christmas month. The last swap went pretty well so I will try it again.

This swap will be all about the color red. Dark red, red, maroon, rusty red, flame red, patterned red or polka dot red, striped red,..etc.

This is an open swap to overseas and USA.

You will have one partner to send to.

Send:

1. 4 fat quarters in red
2. red thread
3. red note cards/journal/stationery
4. a red surprise gift

You should send a package that keeps true to the red as much as possible and is worth at least $10 (pre-postage). If you wish to substitute other items for #2 and #3 that is ok as long as it is something to do with sewing and red.

Look at your partners profile and include extra items such as notions, buttons, stitckers, needles, pins,a pattern, bias trim, ribbon, lace,or any other item you think in orange that would be nice to receive. This can be an inexpensive mailing package. That is why it will be fun.

Please have a rating of 4.75 and zero no sends. Newbies are welcome; please have a well filled out profile and email me BEFORE you join. Otherwise I will delete you from the swap!!

Lastly, please rate your partner accordingly. When you receive your swap, rating them is a great way to let them know you received it.

If you have not received your swap in a timely manner, please email me and I will try to assist you in conacting your partner.

Please let me know if you have any questions regarding this swap.

Happy Swapping!

Welcome Fellow swappers, This one will be the Christmas month so it would be a good idea to try and get your packages out quickly so that your partner has it by the end of the month. "C" day is on the 25th and always delays mail...Hope you have fun and enjoy your packages...And Happy Holidays....DaCraftyLady

how much is a fat quarter in centimetres?

WendyB 12/ 7/2007 #

Winnie, a Fat Quater is roughly equal to 46 x 56 centimeters.

To my swap partner, I really want 100% cotton, quilt shop quality fabric (not from Walmart or Joann's)and cotton thread (not Coates and Clark). I am a hand quilter and do needle-turn applique by hand and can't use the loosly woven polyester stuff.

Thanks!!

I'm in the same position as WendyB, ladies. I do lots of hand applique. I'd prefer only 100% cotton or silk thread. And only good quality, tightly woven, 100% cotton fabric. Look at my profile for other ideas. Thank you.

(And Ladies, I will send the same. My fat quarters are from a local quilt shop, and I put Metler thread to the side to send to my partner.)

Hello Ladies, Everyone should have sent out their packages by now and should be saying their thank yous to their partners. Be sure to post either here or on your blogs and let your partners know you did receive it and liked what you got. Remember that the swap packages are of your partners choice and may not be exactly what you would buy. It is the surprise of getting something new to try and also the fun of swapping. It is ok to say what you like or don't like, but you cannot demand that your partner buy you an exact item or style of material or thread. The idea of this swap is for fun and to receive some little surprises you might not have normally tried. Merry Christmas to all and Happy New Year!!

KELLI and DA' CRAFTY LADY-

I am so sorry, but I still have not gotten mine out yet.... We have had SEVERAL problems around here, not to even mention Christmas, and it's just been impossible to get it sent. But, I am making it up to you with extra things in the package...which adds more time, which means I feel like I have to make another thing...it's a viscious cycle. lol! But don't worry-I'm definitely not flaking!!! It should be ready to go after this weekend, at least when the post office is open again. (I don't know if they are open on New Year's Eve or not...)
