Description:

I think this swap will have so much potential!

Alter a matchbox ( or recreate one, sender's choice) and fill it with an accordian fold paper ( any type of paper sender's choice ) and decorate the paper.decorate every visible side of the folded paper. you can add trinkets, attatch anything you want to the box or pages as long as they fit neatly inside the box. i'm inlcuding a link below of a version of this. Anything goes. but please be courteous and thoughtful. send something you would like to recieve. no sticker slapping. Open theme, sender's choice. If flaked on I will angel. but we know you won't sign up if you want to flake right??

No one with un explained 3s and 1s. no newbies are allowed sorry. if you have less than 5 rating private message me and we will see about getting you in.

must have at least 5 type 3 swaps under your belt. I will be checking profiles.

The boxes shown on the martha stewart site are not match boxes, i think its ok to use a lid box BUT dont stray too far from match box size. keep it 4" or under. the point is a small magic box. Also IF you use a lid box please make sure it stays closed. You may have to add some sort of embellishment to make that happen. otherwise use a match box, and make it easy on yourself. here is marthc stewart tutorial: http://www.marthastewart.com/photogallery/kids-art-projects Here is Rachel's template for a match box if you dont have one to alter: http://blog.swap-bot.com/rachelmatchboxtemplate.pdf

EDIT: I made this an International swap and pushed the date back 3 days to give people time to sign up. since its a small box shipping shoule be cheap.

Any tips on accordion folding the paper? I suck at it.

AmphibianQueen 06/27/2011 #

The link you have for the boxes aren't matchboxes. Does it matter if we use the lid box as well or do you want it specifically matchbox?

bamagrrl 06/28/2011 #

Amphibian Queen : You are correct, I just thought people could adapt it for a matchbox. the only differnce would be the way it opens. I am ok with lid boxes as long as they dont stray too far from match box size and as long as they stay closed. I will post an edit. Great question,.

deLux: any time you fold, start at the center where the crease will be, then press the center first then smooth out to sides. When accordian folding fold the paper in half first crease, then fold in opposite direction one side then the other and continue backwards. does that make sense? lol i will find a tutorial for you,.

here is a tutorial for accordian folding. it's for book making but it won't make a difference.

Oh thank you. I have a great idea, so I was just checking the boundaries. Love the swap! :)

any chance for an international swap?

deLux 06/29/2011 #

Does this mean that you have to decorate the front and back of the accordion? Or just the front?

Looks like a very fun swap. Bamagrrl....are you planning on doing a swap for newbies???

bamagrrl 06/30/2011 #

this seems obvious, but i just want to clarify...on martha's tutorial, since it is a lidded box, she tells you to attach the paper to the box bottom and to the lid...for the matchbox, i'm assuming we will just be putting it in the box or maybe attaching it to the bottom (but not the top due to how a matchbox opens). is this correct?
