Hello - I am looking forward to interesting items and interesting people through this site.
Please note that both my young son and I are highly allergic to both cats and dogs (we get asthma attacks). So just be aware of this if you end up sending me something hand crocheted or knitted, etc. Thanks for understanding.
A little about me. I currently have a great gig hanging out with my three-year-old son. But when he is sleeping I am all about my work in sterling silver (www.maryellendoran.etsy.com) My background includes a formal art degree with emphasis in graphic design and a lot of years of practice in that field... It is nice to be working with some other media now.
A big art history buff, I especially am drawn to the Art Nouveau movement. Cooking makes me happy as does visiting new places and meeting interesting people. I love coffee. I love books. I wish I could do more recreational sailing racing.
For swaps one easy thing for me is fonts - I adore letters - capital or lowercase; serif or sans; italic or roman - modern or antique, you need not send just my initials I love them all equally! Seriously, I study the history of fonts for fun.
My favorite color is brown. I also like black, blue, and white. In jewelry I love all natural stones but preferences are lapis, bronzite, and amber. I prefer silver over gold. I have pierced ears.
In general my taste is modern. I will more often than not choose plain over showy or lacy. I like crisp lines and edges, and I will always choose well made over trendy.
Thanks in advance for your great swaps!
I love books. So these are just some off the top of my head that belong here - anything by Anais Nin, Ian McEwan, Henry Miller, or J.D. Salinger
Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden I am a Gemini so I also have a side that is very fond of Sophie Kinsella's Shopaholic series and Nick Hornby
I make chain - see www.maryellendoran.etsy.com; and love to make jewelry. I love the graphic arts and do fine art pieces using type to create images. Ceramics, glass blowing, and printmaking.
