Don't worry about the forums. If you stay away from the drama you are better for it. Get some swaps under your belt (search the swaps for newbie friendly ones under the "Find Swaps" tab. And join groups (which I see you already have) Groups are safer and the like minded people on there make it a more community oriented. See you in the swaps!
Hello! I'm also a newbie. How do you feel about swap-bot so far? I think it's pretty neat~ I get so excited with receiving stuff in the mail and also sending stuff off. :)
Tee hee... Vancouver has some very colourful ephemera... literally and figuratively... it's a fun game! My friend Robie is very much into karate, but I'm more of a pacifist, ha ha ;)
The forums... aren't so bad really... just people learning to get along and trying to look out for each other... ratings are just a big deal because we all want to have a good reputation - sometimes it's easy to get carried away when you're dealing with matters of "honour", you know? But it's not all bad, there are tags and craft discussions and nice things going on too ;)
Let me know if you want to do a private trade... I would love to receive one of your 5000 letters... maybe I could make a few things to put inside your Matchbox Tree? (beaded charms?)

swap-bot is VERY addicting and also very friendly... so long as you stay out of those forums! scary, icky place that can be.... i have found the groups to be nice though. in fact, certain ones are even MORE addicting that the swaps! anyway, have fun here and have fun with the impending swap.
