About Me

Would you like to receive a RAK (random act of kindness)? Send me your address in a private message, and I'll look at your profile for ideas! Sending me a message for an RAK doesn't guarantee you'll get one, but if you don't send me your address it does guarantee you won't get one!

:5 Blank Postcards to Five Partners August swap, all envelopes were returned to me for additional postage, and weird amounts of additional postage. I took them in to the post office and they couldn't figure out why they were returned to me either, and thought the amounts made no sense. They assured me that they will go out today without the need for the additional postage. I apologize for the delay. (8/9/22) "whoever did this is a douchebag!" -clerk:

I'm an INFJ, Pisces, queer paper crafter, recently moved back to SoCal from the Pacific NW, and I love to send and receive mail. 💌

I tend to get things out the same day partners are assigned, and rate immediately when things arrive. I mark items as sent when I put them in the mail slot in my front door for my carrier to pick up that day, or when I drop them at the post office. ✔️

I welcome handmade items. 🎨

I enjoy Postcrossing, mixed media art/collage, iHanna handmade postcard swaps, daisy yellow index card a day, and other postal and paper crafts. ✂️

¡Avid! postal swap participant. 📬

I have a herd of cats (5!) Three Siamese and two tabbies. Also feeding a cat my neighbors abandoned in November 2020. Update: I said goodbye to my sweet girl Lu (one of the tabbies) on Friday December 3rd, 2021. I feel like I've lost my shadow.

Postal swaps bring me a lot of joy while I'm physically limited. I'm a #spoonie dealing with a lot of chronic pain - fibromyalgia, spinal injury, degenerated disks and multiple other spinal and nerve problems, allergic response inflammatory arthritis, as well as a handful of other autoimmune issues. Unless you can relate, I'm not terribly interested in talking about it. #spoonies

My artistic background is in super 8 and 16mm film production, photography, and paper crafting of all kinds.🎥📷

I have a dark leaning-think goth and not horror, green/plant/animal witch. Emily Strange, Tim Burton (Vincent, Edward Scissorhands, Sleepy Hollow, Alice, Nightmare Before Christmas, Corpse Bride, etc.), the old Beetlejuice animated series, Edward Gorey, Nikki McClure, crows, black+red+white together, ghosts, bats, cats, coastal, nature. Alice in Wonderland, especially classic (pre-Disney) illustrations. I also like lil Bub, grumpy cat, sea creatures like whales, narwhals, manatees, otters, seahorses, octopuses, bioluminescent critters. Gnomes and mushrooms. Botanical. Ferns. Redwoods. I'm a big nerd for fractals in nature. 🧛🏻‍♀️🦇🐋🦦🐙🪴🍄

Tintypes and daguerreotypes make me swoon, and postcard prints of them. I'm a big fan of unusual vintage photos or odd groupings of people and/or things, including vintage photos painted over with, say, a cheesy Halloween style bedsheet ghost. 📷

I'd love to receive Halloween themed postcards any time of year. 🎃👻

I like coffee and coffee themed items like stickers, washi, postcards, stamps, etc. ☕

My grandma made circuit boards for the Space Shuttles, and I'd love to receive anything related to the NASA Space Shuttle programs. I especially like images of astronauts inside spacecraft or in space, real photos or any kind of art. 🚀

The Jetsons (Rosey!), mid mod futuristic space art, and mid century images of humans in space intrigue me. 🛸

I'd love to receive What We Do In The Shadows fan art. Guillermo and Nadja are my favorite characters, but Nandor in workout clothes is also up there! 🦇

One of my main aesthetics is something I call evidence of time passing. Rust, moss, smooth stone, collapsed barns, nature reclaiming spaces previously occupied by humans, tree roots or vines growing over buildings, side cuts of sediment layers, what time does to human skin (think images of an old person's hand holding a child's hand). Evidence of time passing. 🍃

My brother and sister in law are major fans of all things tiki, so if you have fun tiki stuff to pass along to make things for them I'd love to receive it. 🌺🗿

For tea swaps, I am allergic to 🚫 cardamom (chai, etc.), hibiscus, lavender, and nuts aside from almonds 🚫, but anything else is fine. Do you have a favorite roasted green tea?🫖🍵

I am not a girly girl. I've never used cosmetics. I am too low maintenance for that. No frills. No hustle culture. No girl boss/girl power stuff. It's not my jam.

🚫 I don't have a use for items geared toward very young people, reward stickers, or planner and journaling stickers. A snip of ribbon or lace or twine is nice on occasion, but I won't use yarn or fabric scraps. I have many allergies, so I'm not interested in receiving cosmetics, pressed flowers, strongly scented items. I'm atheist and am not interested in receiving anything western religious/christian/deity themed. Honoring earth, others, and self is welcome. 🚫

Favorite Books

The Secret Garden has been a favorite since I first began to read as a tiny tot. I've read Jane Eyre countless times. The Griffin and Sabine series makes me giddy. Marjane Satrapi and Michelle Tea graphic novels are keepers. More recently, The Night Circus was excellent enough to warrant a re-read.

Read in June22: Selma Blair's Mean Baby, Michelle Zauner's Crying in H-Mart, The Book of Form and Emptines by Ruth Ozeki, Snow White Learns Witchcraft by Theodora Goss.

Read in July22: another Ruth Ozeki title, A Tale For The Time Being, Last Night at the Telegraph Club by Malinda Lo, A Line in the Dark, also by Malinda Lo, You're Not Listening by Kate Murphy.

Read in August22: Dead Father's Club by Matt Haig (8/3/22). Finished That Woman Next Door by Harper Bliss (8/4/22). Finished Stardust by Neil Gaiman (8/7/22). Finished The Glimpses of the Moon by Edith Wharton (8/8/22). Started Quiet by Susan Cain.

Favorite Movies

City of Lost Children and True Stories are my top favorites. Wes Anderson and Sophia Coppola.

I studied German expressionist film, film production, photography, women in media, and literature. Double major, double minor. BA(IS)

Comment: Everything about this postcard is so fun! The colors on the front really are sherbet-y, and the texture that the dots give it is so cool. And I love the sticker collage! I think it flows together perfectly~
Response: I added the smallest size of dots texture after I saw you were my partner because I knew you'd appreciate it!

Comment: Thank you so much for the pretty index card. I really liked your background watercoloring. My watercoloring leaves a lot to be desired! Many thanks for joining in.
Response: I feel the same about my own watercolor, leaves a lot to be desired, but the more I play with it the more confident I become and the more I like the results! Keep at it!
