PLEASE READ THOROUGHLY!! I'VE MADE CHANGES SINCE THIS SWAP WAS STARTED

This one has been brewing in my head for some time now, and I think I've finished all the details. Please make sure to read through ALL of the details BEFORE signing up. If you think it's too much reading, well then I think this group may not be for you as most of our swaps are complicated.

Step 1 - Gather items: These instructions, notepad & pen/pencil, something to tell time with, small ziploc sized baggie, a sturdy envelope, some paper currency and some coins (just some, i don't care how much) ,

Step 2 - MAJOR REQUIREMENT #1 Walk out of a door on April 1, 2012 - make sure not to go through a door or go in a door (or into for that matter), you must go out. You may drive/walk/bike/fly/skip/travel/swim/shuffle to get to a door, it can be any door, you just need to go out of it. As soon as you do, stop. Grab notepad & pen/pencil and write:
* date and time, your swap-bot username, swap name.
* list the items in your bag (you're welcome to add items to your bag but you must list them all)
* are you outside or inside?
* describe the door you just walked out of and something you liked on the other side of it.

Step 4 - Walk east until you either reach a point that you can no longer walk or you have walked 50 yards. Grab notepad and write answer: * did you walk 50 yards? if not, what did you reach?

Step 5 - MAJOR REQUIREMENT #2 Stay within a 2 foot/60 cm radius from where you are. Grab small baggie and find something that takes up less than 10% of it. (spoiler: you'll have to mail this item...) Put item in baggie.

Step 6 - Grab notepad and write down the time again. How much time will it take for the clock to have 46 in the minutes part? Write this number down too.

Step 7 - Grab envelope and spend the amount of time found in step 6 doodling on it, making sure to leave room for your partners address and the return address. You may not do anything else during this time. When time is up, put a crease in the envelope by folding one of the corners and put it back in your bag.

Step 8 - Put a paperclip in your baggie. Do not continue steps until a paperclip is in the bag. (i.e. if it takes you some days to get a paperclip, that is ok.)

Step 9 - MAJOR REQUIREMENT #3 At the next available chance, grab your items from step 1 and take at least a .5 mile (.8 km) walk in which you'll pass by any type of store. If you don't live within .5 mile (.8 km) of a store then you'll have to start your walk at least .5 mile (.8 km) from one. On your walk you must find these items and put them in your baggie:
* something that takes up less than 10% of your baggie
* something used for altering that costs as much as you have in your bag (or as close as you can get)
* something that is the size of the largest coin in your bag and is not made of plastic

Step 10 - Go home.

Step 11 - Find a treasured item that is no longer than your pinky finger. Put this item in your baggie.

Step 12 - Do steps 13, 14, and 15 starting at exactly 10 a.m. with a pair of slippers or cozy socks on.

Step 13 - Find something, anything, that you'd like to alter that will fit in your envelope. Take a picture of it. Grab notepad and write a few sentences about what your item is, how you used it, where you got it, why you sent it.

Step 14 - Find a marker and something small that will absorb ink and 3 different colors of any type of ink. Create a piece of amazingness using only these two items that you will use on your altered item.

Step 15 - Smash/Pound something hard across the top of a piece of paper that will fit on your altered item (and hence, also in your envelope). Smash it up good and rough until it looks really, really beaten. Tear a small chunk out of either side. Draw a thick, straight line diagonally from the right top to the left bottom. Using a thinner pen, decorate the edges of your thick, straight line. Cut a small triangle out of any paper that has ink on. Grab something rough like sandpaper and scuff all of one side of your triangle. Scuff it up good and rough. Attach your triangle to the piece of paper in any way you like, and anywhere you like, scuffed side up. Rescue something from the garbage (that isn't gross obviously) and attach if to your piece of paper. Grab 1 item out of your baggie and attach it to your piece of paper. Attach piece of paper to item chosen in step 13.

Step 16 - Write current time in notepad.

Over the two weeks following your completion of step 16 you must do these things:

  • Use your bought item to alter your item

  • Use 1 item in your baggie to make a tag for your altered item which says FOR: (fill in your partners username) BY: (fill in your user name) and attach it to your altered item.

  • On the piece of paper you've already written on, spend 10-15 minutes writing about anything you want.

  • Use 1 item in your baggie to somehow or another create something that will allow your altered item to hang, or hangs off of your altered item. You may use anything you want along with your 1 item, it is just required that this item be part of it.

  • Take a picture of the final product. (I'll put a thread in the forums so you can post your pictures, or if you'd like you can email them to me and i will post them.)

You may continue to alter your item from here but focus should remain on the items in your baggie or from this swap.

MAJOR REQUIREMENT #4 - MAIL TO YOUR PARTNER:

  • sheet of paper that includes all of the written information from this swap
  • altered item inside the envelope you doodled on
