Description:

It's Springtime (and that means pollen to those of us in the Southern USA), so to take my mind off my allergies I thought a Spring-Time (NOT EASTER) handcrafted Postcard Swap would do just the trick.

Webster's Dictionary Definition of a Naked Postcard = (noun) a (flat thicker, double sided piece of card stock) on which a message may be written for mailing without an envelope and to which the sender must affix a stamp.

To join this swap you MUST meet the following requirements:

  • Have minimum 4.95 rating. Based on Type 2 or 3 type swaps...(if you have only email swaps, you will be banned).
  • No 1s at all
  • Have not been called out as a questionable swapper

I am going to allow newbies with no ratings to join this swap, provided you have a well filled out profile:

  • Likes/Dislikes
  • A little about yourself
  • What you can offer others.

Swap Requirements:

  • 1 Handcrafted (NOT STORE BOUGHT THEN ALTERED) Post card - 1 partner.

  • Use Sturdy cardstock as a backing.

  • Do quality work (not glue globs, no flimsy papers, no sloppy cutting, no poor stamping).

  • Make sure you use a great adhesive. AND as a general rule if you are using a lot of embellishments you should take the PC to the PO for hand cancelling as the machine might destroy your beautiful work.

  • Make sure to use adequate postage (Handcrafted PCs general cost a little more to mail the regular PCs).

  • Stickers are allowed, but don't just slap on a sticker and call it done. (I can put flour, sugar, milk and eggs in a bowl, but that doesn't make it a cake).

  • Write a short sweet hello message to your partner on the PC.

  • No religious/Easter Postcards. UNLESS you have specifically ok'd this with your partner through a PM. If you send Easter/Religious postcards (without okaying it prior) your partner has the right to rate you a 3 for not following swap rules.

Flakers are the 2nd lowest form of questionable swapper on SB (IMO)...the first is a Non-Rater/Poor Rater. If you decide to become either in this swap you will be reported in FOPS (Flakers and Other Questionable Swappers), you will be outted in the PFs.

Please PM me if you see a questionable swapper. I will weed out along the way and directly prior to assigning partners. If even after all my precautions a loser flakes on you I will angel after you rate the swapper a 1. If you fail to rate your flaking partner a 1, then I will not angel.

Please rate according to Swapbot rules (hearts should be given at the SOLE discretion of the receiver).

Please Note if you can't commit to sending on time, please do not join this swap, I will NOT change dates to accommodate anyone's tardiness

Please PM me with any comments, concerns or questions you may have regarding this swap.

Gong to watch some videos on handmade postcards and hope that I can do this. I want to enter sooooo bad. ;)

Just a question or 2. If I use a cereal box as cardstock does the front where the addresses go have to be white? can it be the cardboard color? Can I decorate the side where the addresses go? And is there a general size?

Paige1900 03/25/2012 #

Yes you can use the cereal box, the back of the PC can be any color you want (red, purple, blue, rainbow), I typically take another PC that I have and base the general size on that one. And as long as you leave the side on the back that shows the address, you are more than welcome to decorate the back.

My first attempt at a homemade postcard is coming together very nicely. Paige, I hope its ok with you if I send you a sneak peak pic of what I have so far. Just to make sure I'm on the right track with this. I was so nervous about joining this swap but now I'm glad I did. Thanks for the encouragement!!

Can we mail these in clear plastic to ensure they don't get damaged?

Paige1900 04/ 4/2012 #

Yep...that is what I always do. : )

"sole" discretion, lovey.

And USPS defines PCs as no bigger than 6" x 4 1/4", then they are oversized and require more postage.

Perhaps I should have not called it a PC...and just said "Flat Mailing Card"...LOL. I always carry mine the the Post Office for proper postage. (Although most of the time mine are the size of a normal PC...) but if for some reason you can't get to the PO, and have to place it in a mail post I would suggest adding more postage than you normally would, to be safe.
