Description:

This is a long-term penpal swap! In order to participate you must be willing to write at least once a month to your partner with no moderation from me. PLEASE READ the section entitled "The Goal of This Swap".

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Please rate a 5 if your partner sends you the following in a timely fashion for the month of January:
1) A list of goals/resolutions for 2013... no limits on how many or how few.
2) Why they chose those goals/resolutions.
3) Some action steps they hope to take in January.
4) And, of course, a brief introduction of themselves! You are going to be penpals after all, why not get to know each other? ;)

THE GOAL OF THIS SWAP

I sincerely hope that we can find some penpals who will write to us at least once a month with a report on what they are doing to accomplish each of their goals, and start a new friendship with!

I am only making the requirements for the first month because I'm not going to maintain this swap for the full year, BUT IT IS STRONGLY ENCOURAGED that if you sign up you will continue to write to your pen pal at least once a month to talk about your goals! You're on the honors system if you sign up! Don't disappoint! ;)

A Note on Setting Goals

Many people get discouraged halfway through the first week of the New Year and give up on their resolutions before even getting started! Some helpful tips:
- Do one thing at a time. Often people give up simply because they have tried to do too many things or make too many changes at once. Plan to start or do one thing on your list per month or every few weeks.
- Have accountability! Tell someone about your goals and have them hold you to it (one of the reasons for this swap!) But find someone you see in person to keep up with you for extra motivation, too.
- Don't go it alone. Find people with similar goals or who can help you achieve your goals. This makes things like working out or learning to sew so much easier and more fun!
- Be flexible. Sometimes certain goals don't work out because they are contingent on timing or funds, or even continued interest! Don't use lack of time or interest or even funds as an excuse though! Give it a good effort before setting a goal aside and setting a new one.
- Make your goals SMART: Specific, Measureable, Acheiveable, Relevant, and Timely

I have made the minimum rating high because this swap will have no moderation after the initial send. Sorry, no unrated newbies for this one! Must have a well filled-out profile, I will be checking!!

Happy Swapping!

I'm new. (I've completed some swaps, but still new.) If anyone would like to do something like this privately, I would absolutely LOVE it. I'm a dedicated letter writer. :)

catsandscales 12/14/2012 #

@anandatashie there's still time for you to get some ratings to participate and join in by the deadline! If not, MSG me... ;)

anandatashie 12/14/2012 #

@catsandscales - Fantastic! How many ratings would be acceptable for joining? I'll watch in the meantime. :)

catsandscales 12/14/2012 #

I just looked at your profile, which I should have done in the first place, because you are totally fine to join in! =) I meant unrated newbies...I'll go clarify that now!

And I'm in OK right now too! Not from here, just visiting family, but enjoying it so far. =)

Oh, yay!

Oklahoma has its good and bad, but over time, I've really grown to love it. Maybe you brought us some rain in your luggage? (hopeful look) :D

catsandscales 12/14/2012 #

I wish!! We are enjoying listening to the wind in Lincoln County, but some rain would really add to the effect. ;)

I would love to join, but I cannot do that :( if the partners are assigned on 29th, that's Saturday, when the post office isn't opened, nor on Sunday, nor on Monday because of the New Year's Eve, and nor Tuesday on New Year. :/ Maybe next time! :)

Are you able to push the send by date to like the 4th of January, I'm not sure anything opens in the UK until the 3rd or 4th. I'll join then, so on watch atm.

catsandscales 12/24/2012 #

Oh, didn't think about that! I'll push back the send by date to the 4th so all can participate. =)

I have a question...is this going to pair us up with the same person we send to? Or will we have two new penpals? I am curious. Thanks

catsandscales 12/28/2012 #

@ILuv2BCrafty - Unfortunately Swap-Bot's partner assignment system is completely random... so you will end up with two partners.

catsandscales 12/29/2012 #

Sorry about the delay!! I hate when the coordinator is late in assigning partners and here I am with the day gone! =P Sorry bout that. Swap away!

anandatashie 12/30/2012 #

I worked on mine to Desiree / @regrowroots this evening so it's all finished to go out on Monday. (I'll mark it as sent once that happens.) :)

Letter packet is en route to my partner. Happy New Year!

regrowroots 01/ 3/2013 #

A letter is on it way to my new penpal!

The first round of this has been received / rated on both sides for me. Thanks for hosting this one @catsandscales :)
