About Me

I'm a traveling bohemian gypsy at heart, although lately I have found a temporary home in Branson Missouri. My dream is to find a piece of land to put down my roots, build homes out of dirt for my family and friends, and raise all of my own food. Then I'll invite everyone I meet to join us in our grassroots community!

Every natural thing about this world is absolutely incredible to me and is an inspiration to step lightly upon the earth. I learn from my pagan ancestors through stories, books, and recipes.

Favorite Crafts

My garden is my very favorite hobby. Spending time with the plants that I have started from seed and watching them grow, guiding them at times, and creating a safe haven for so many critters! It's so much more than a craft...

I love to crochet all kinds of garments and accessories and my favorite yarns are alpaca wool, sheep wool, organic cotton, and bamboo.

Painting was my first love and I still love spending time with my paint brushes. Recently I have started painting on locally sourced wood which is so nice to work with. :)

Favorite Books

The Tao of Pooh

Alice in Wonderland

Brave New World

Nourishing Traditions

Playing with Fish (written by a dear friend)

Harry Potter

The Lorax (but I don't like the new movie, yuck)

I love non fiction books covering topics that I am interested in like - gardening, permaculture, food preservation, goats, chickens, herbal medicine, ayurveda, energy healing, mind body spirit connection, buddhism, native american healing, shamanism, frugal living, ways to build homes with earth, straw, earth ships, etc., naturopathy, soap making.... My partner loves music books, he reads music and tabs and likes most styles of music but right now is really into blues, bluegrass, and world music.

Things I Looove

Natural yarns - alpaca, sheep, cotton, bamboo, hemp

Plants! and fresh produce!

Wood. Anything wooden.

bright colors - lime green, hot pink, sunny orange, yellow, teal, aqua, grape

natural colors - browns, subtle greens, grey, yellow

Handmade crafts, anything created with heart.

Hearing and telling stories.

Meeting people who live off the land and learning as much as I can from them.

food food food - Traditional recipes from around the world like sauerkraut, fermented bean paste, german wursts, anything pickled! I looove learning traditional foods passed down through generations.

camping. hiking. living outdoors. trees. flowers. bees. rain forests. rivers. ponds. rain.

Big tribal jewelry, finger weaving, basket weaving, any kind of native crafts.

Paintings, wall hangings of all sorts!

Real feathers, especially those that come from your very own flock of birds.. or ones that are collected on nature walks!

Love! and Peace! and MUUUUSIC!

herbal teas and tinctures

handmade soaps and cleaners

Favorite Music

Mmmm la da da I love music. I love to sing the blues, reggae, folk, and I'm getting into singing some jazz tunes as well. I play the ukulele more than other instruments but also mess around with the banjo, harmonica, bongos, and keyboard now and then. My boyfriend and I sort of have a band, but I'm a bit self conscious so it's an off and on kinda thing.. We play bluegrass / folk / reggae / blues ... haha anything we're feeling!

I love Bob Marley and Nina Simone, Rising Appalachia, Bob Dylan, Elephant Revival, Creedence Clearwater Revival... I could go on for a long time. I love music. :)

Few things I don't like...

I'm not into new cartoon type stuff.

Not very girly, but I don't mind a little pink.

Candy, dessert foods (unless they are homemade :)

I can't stand fast food. Yuck!

Noooo chemicals. I don't use chemical cleaners, only natural soaps, I make my own lotions, no medicines, no makeup, no nail polish...

Comment: Hi Desiree, I found it most interesting the items you use instead of brands. and I can understand being happy. I lived in Branson for 3 years before moving to Montana. Learning to can, grow our own vegetables, make our own soapsand candles, and a new friend is going to teach my grandson how to hunt for foods and clean and dress and butcher them. We love it here
Response: Very interesting that you used to live in Branson. I've heard beautiful things about Montana. My family is looking to get land in this area, Missouri or Arkansas. I would love nothing more than to have land with my loved ones and grow our food, raise animals, and build homes from cob. I want to start a commune and invite everyone I know! Today I canned squash relish and rendered lard with the help of my boyfriend. It was very fulfilling! Then I took a bath. :) Very cool that your grandson is learning to hunt. My boyfriend really wants to learn. We have slaughtered and butchered a chicken and we're about to leave for a farm to help them out in exchange for half their hog who we will help slaughter and process. Exciting! Good to hear from you.

Comment: thanks. i dont usually read more than 1 book at a time! how do you keep track of them?
Response: It's a habit I guess.. . I do the same with crafts and projects. I start a bunch of things and have them all going at the same time because I supposed I get bored of just focusing on one thing. Sometimes I don't finish everything I start, but I feel like that's totally okay. I finish what needs to be finished and go with the flow. :)
