Painted Paper Landscape Collage

I've been wanting to host a landscape collage swap for some time and here is what I came up with ... A challenge to create a painted paper landscape collage in the spirit of cut and paste collage and in the style of Robin Brooks. Who is Robin Brooks? A wonderful contemporary artist who says this about her method:

"... I got out my acrylic paints and used water to thin the paint - I filled sheet after sheet of drawing paper with painted color. These colored papers were the raw materials for my collages, and this is why I describe them as painted paper collages as compared with collages made from magazines or other “found” papers."

"Using my scissors as a drawing tool, I create shapes of color which can be arranged, re-arranged and fitted together. At times the paper is layered and at other times I carefully fit form against form. In this way, constructing a collage is more physical and concrete than pure painting. Sometimes I worked from a photograph or sketch of the landscape motif. On the other hand, some of my landscape collages are done from memory."

Please visit Robin's website to see more examples of her landscape collages and a larger version of the example above.

Using Robin as inspiration, paint/wash existing paper. It doesn't have to be drawing paper but can be patterned, textured, colored paper - but paint/wash over the paper and then use it in your collage to create a landscape.

1 postcard, 1 partner.

I like naked postcards but if you're concerned about successful delivery, you may send it in an envelope.

This is sender's choice.

I love slapping paint on paper! What a great idea. Hope I don't leave this too long to start (as I am wont to do at times); I want to sign up! Whenever I'm in the ROOM, I'll try to remember to paint up sheets of paper. I'm going to print out this description to help me remember. Great idea! Oh, I said that :)

Someone asked me offline if they can use ripped paper as well - I say yes. Robin Brooks uses "scissors as a drawing tool" so we should too but I think including some torn/ripped paper is fine.
